CALL FOR RESEARCH PAPERS ------------------------------------------------ XP is the premier Agile software development conference combining research and practice. It is a unique forum where Agile researchers, practitioners, thought leaders, coaches, and trainers gather to present and discuss their most recent innovations and research results. At its inception 25 years ago, the XP conference focused solely on eXtreme Programming. It quickly widened its scope to include all modern Agile approaches and Agility’s developing aspects. XP draws people from around the globe, providing a diverse and inclusive environment for learning and inspiring conversations. The ANNIVERSARY THEME for XP2024 is “Reflect, Adapt, Envision,” a retrospective and futuristic view of the progress of the field and the future steps for the community. The connection between industry and academia is a core value of the XP conference. The academic track welcomes full research papers (15 pages) and short papers (8 pages) on a broad variety of topics related to agile and lean software development, and especially those that incorporate the overarching theme of XP2024 – making a difference: past and future of the XP conferences. Topics of interest: • Making a Difference: Past and Future of the XP Conferences • Empirical studies and evaluations of the progress in the field • Foundations and conceptual studies • Evaluation-based research agendas • Evolution of agile practices and agile culture • Leadership and Culture • Leadership and coaching • Human aspects, morale, values, ethics, and beliefs • Diversity & Inclusion in Agile • Business agility and Startups • Business and startups • Business and enterprise agility • Software startups • Global software development and offshoring • Large-scale agile organizations • Data-driven agility and transformations • Measurement and metrics for projects, processes, software, and teams • Qualitative/quantitative improvement techniques • Tools and techniques for Agile and lean development • Engineering • Agile Architecture • Engineering and management • Testing, release management, and deployment • Test-driven Development, Pair Programming, and Refactoring • Development and operations (DevOps) • Continuous engineering and automation • Product and Design • Requirements gathering • Product management • Education and Training • Teaching experiences • Empirical studies with students • Emerging topics • Hybrid approaches to Agile software development • Agility for regulated AI systems • Agile ML Engineering • Sustainability for teams, products, development, business models and management • Games and game-based techniques ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CALL FOR RESEARCH WORKSHOP PROPOSALS ------------------------------------------------------------------------ In addition to the main tracks, XP hosts a variety of high-quality workshops, providing a forum for groups of 20-40 (or more) participants to meet and discuss research questions with peers to share new and exciting ideas, which may optionally be written up and published in the formal proceedings. Research workshops are usually very effective for defining new research agendas, enhancing collaboration, and incubating scientific communities. We invite full-day (6-hour) or half-day (3-hour) scientific workshop proposals on Agile-related topics to discuss or present results of research and practice. We welcome both already existing well-known workshops and new cutting-edge workshops in innovative topics relevant for the XP conference. ------------------------------- IMPORTANT DATES ------------------------------- Research Papers • Abstracts (voluntary): Feb 2, 2024 • Full submission deadline: Feb 9, 2024 • Notification: March 25, 2024 • Camera Ready: April 12, 2024 Research Workshops • Proposal submission deadline: January 5, 2024 • Workshop proposals notifications: January 12, 2024 • Workshops call for contributions on the website: January 26, 2024 • Workshop paper submissions: April 5, 2024 • Workshop paper notifications: April 30, 2024 • Workshops: June 4, 2024 • Camera-ready versions of accepted papers: to be decided (post-conference date) ------------------------------- PROGRAM CHAIRS ------------------------------- Conference co-Chairs: • Xiaofeng-Wang, University of Bolzano (Italy) • Michele Marchesi, University of Cagliari (Italy) Academic Program Co-Chairs: • Darja Smite, Bleking Institute of Technology (Sweden) • Eduardo Guerra, University of Bolzano (Italy) Research Workshops Co-Chairs: • Lodovica Marchesi, University of Cagliari (Italy) • Alfredo Goldman, Universidade de São Paulo (Brazil) Proceedings Chair Peggy Gregory, University of Glasgow (the UK) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
