Call For Papers

Following the success of the inaugural conference in London
last year, the IEEE Consumer Electronics Society is pleased to announce the 2nd International IEEE Games Innovation Conference 2010 (GIC 2010). The conference aims to be a platform for innovative research in game design and technologies and to focus on the multi-disciplinary aspects of the subject and make it more accessible to researchers and practitioners from different disciplines in academia and industry.

High quality papers, abstracts, competitions, tutorials and demos from researchers and developers in academia and industry are invited. We especially invite the games industry to participate through exciting keynotes and help to disseminate use of advance tools by practical sessions and demos. We also encourage technical and financial sponsorships from other organisations and academic institutions. Especially fruitful in 2009 was the scholarship scheme for post-graduate students, which we hope to replicate this year.

Submissions:

Academic Track Papers/Posters:

Authors are invited to submit papers describing significant,
original and unpublished work. A short abstract of not more than
2 A4 pages should be submitted by the date shown. A full paper
will be requested after review. This may be subject to further review.

Industry Track Papers/System Demonstrations (Interactive Posters)/Panel Discussions:

Authors can also submit extended abstracts of up to 1000 words (3-4 pages). People who wish to give a talk (e.g. practitioners, researchers with preliminary or incomplete papers) but do not want to submit a full paper for review can submit under this category. For system demonstrations and panel discussions authors are required to submit a shorter abstract.

Special Sessions and Tutorials:

If you have an idea for a special session or tutorial please contact us by the date shown. All papers and abstracts will be fully refereed by the programme committee and selected on the basis of their innovation, relevance and scientific contribution. Demonstration submissions will be evaluated on the basis of their interest and relevance. The accepted papers and abstracts will appear in the conference proceedings. Authors of accepted papers and extended abstracts will be asked to submit revised and updated versions for possible publication in the IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics.

Registration:

Registration fees have yet to be finalised, but the full fee will not be more than US$400.

Venue:

Hong Kong is at its best during December. Stay a while after the conference and have a great Christmas in the tropics. The conference also overlaps with the Asia Game Show - where nearly 500,000 attendees will see the latest in games hardware and software. Conference attendees will get privileged entrance.

Accommodation:

Hong Kong has a multitude of hotels at many different prices. There will not be any designated conference hotel as better prices are available online! Many good hotels are available combined with flight bookings, and attendees are recommended to make their own arrangements. As Hong Kong is quite a small place, nowhere is more than 30 minutes from the conference venue by public transport.

Spouses' Programme:

Depending on the number of spouses registered, we plan to arrange a comprehensive spouses' programme using one of the local travel agents. Hong Kong and its surrounding region is one of the most popular tourist destinations, with Macau and the southern provinces of China within easy reach.
