Call For Papers

StochMod - the biennial meeting of the EURO Working Group on Stochastic Modelling - is the premier European forum for researchers who have an interest in stochastic modelling. Its seventh edition will take place in Lancaster - a home to the renowned Lancaster University Management School and a gateway to the UK's largest national park, Lake District. The co-chairs, Rouba Ibrahim and Peter Jacko invite you to take part in this meeting and look forward to seeing you!

Invited Keynote Speakers
- Prof. Margaret Brandeau (Stanford University)
- Prof. Kevin Glazebrook (Lancaster University)
- Prof. Warren B. Powell (Princeton University)
- Prof. Kalyan Talluri (Imperial College London)

The EURO Working Group on Stochastic Modelling was formed to serve as the platform for researchers in Europe who have an interest in stochastic modelling. It is concerned with the development and use of probabilistic models and probability theory for the design, evaluation, improvement, and optimisation of systems that involve random phenomena, for example, production lines, supply chains, service centres, social/communications/energy/transport networks, financial markets, etc.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The scope of StochMod meeting includes both theoretical advances in stochastic modelling techniques and relevant applications. The contribution may lie in the formulation of new stochastic models, in the development of new analytical methods, or in the innovative application of existing models and methods.

Theoretical research topics include but are not restricted to stochastic modelling and methods in:
- Queueing theory
- Markov decision processes
- Stochastic processes
- Simulation
- Bayesian statistics
- Machine learning and data science
- Game theory and behavior theory
- Stochastic programming
- Approximation, heuristic and asymptotic methods
- Robust and multicriteria decision making

The list of relevant applications includes but is not restricted to:
- Service operations, such as healthcare systems and contact centres
- Business innovations, such as sharing economy and online market places
- Social networks and communications systems
- Biometrics, epidemiology and medical decision making
- Supply chains and manufacturing/production systems
- Logistics and transportation
- Revenue management and pricing
- Routing, scheduling and resource allocation
- Economics, financial markets and risk management
- Energy systems
- Business and marketing analytics
- Humanitarian and non-for-profit projects

We also welcome contributions at the intersection of stochastic modelling with topics of other EURO Working groups, especially Network Optimization, Stochastic Optimization, Pricing and Revenue Management, Commodities and Financial Modelling, Data Science meets Optimization, and Project Management and Scheduling.
