Call for Papers Spatial Cognition 2018
Submission deadline full papers: February 2, 2018; by 10:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time Notification deadline full papers: March 23, 2018 Camera-ready deadline full papers: April 20, 2018 Conference: September 5th to September 8th, 2018 Location: Tübingen, Germany Spatial Cognition 2018 (SC) will bring together researchers across different fields working on a diverse set of topics in the domain of spatial cognition. We invite researchers using a plethora of methods addressing, for example, biological inspired systems, spatial learning, geography, communication, interaction, robotics, and perception. The conference will take place in Tübingen, Germany from September 5th to September 8th, 2018. Hosted at University of Tübingen, Germany, SC 2018 is the flagship interdisciplinary conference in the field of spatial cognition and continues the highly successful conference series which started in 1997 (http://bscc.spatial-cognition.de/node/16). In the finest tradition of fostering transdisciplinary exchange, the conference is organized as a single-track. The final main program will be the result of a selective review process and will include invited talks as well as oral and poster presentations of refereed papers. The main conference will be preceded by one day of workshops and tutorials. Papers presented at the conference will be published in Springer LNAI proceedings. Papers containing original and unpublished work are solicited in all areas of spatial cognition, including (but not limited to) the following: * Development of spatial knowledge * Spatial education and learning * Aging and spatial performance * Spatial language and communication * Spatial problem solving and reasoning * Spatial interaction and collaboration * Spatial assistance systems and applications * Geospatial information science and systems * Representations and processing of spatial information * Virtual and augmented spaces * Novel spatial interfaces * Biology-inspired agents * Robotic and human localization, navigation, wayfinding * Mapping and exploration * Motion and path planning * Estimation and learning for robotic systems * Human-robot interaction Formatting Instructions & Deadline As one of the main goals of SC is to foster transdisciplinary exchange, authors should keep in mind to make their paper accessible for colleagues from other research disciplines. Papers ranging from 10 to 20 pages (excluding references) should be formatted according to the LNAI style and submitted via the easychair system. Accepted papers will appear in the Springer LNAI proceedings (http://bscc.spatial-cognition.de/node/16). We follow a single blind review process. All submissions should not be anonymized. This means that your paper and any supplementary materials should have authors' names and affiliations. Citations to your own relevant work should not be anonymous, but should say "Prior work by Smith et al. [1]" instead of "In my prior work". Process Papers will undergo a high-quality peer-review process by a committee of recognized experts in order to be presented at the SC conference. SC does not accept submissions that were published previously in formally reviewed publications or that are currently submitted elsewhere.
