MATWEP 2018
1st International Workshop on Maturity of Web Engineering Practices
http://www.iwt2.org/matwep2018/

The main goal of this workshop is to offer a forum to exchange experiences and ideas related to maturity level of Web Engineering approaches in practice. ICWE started in the year 2000. A lot of techniques, methods and approaches have been proposed for the development of Web software during the last decades and most of them were presented in ICWE conferences and associated workshops. Some last longer than others, most of them inspired others and then, they evolved, they grew up, but how mature are they? What kind of experience could be reported? Then, the aim of this workshop is to know the current state and impact produced in the industry by all these solutions and, also, to promote the debate about what lines of interest or solutions (techniques, methods and proposals) are currently being demanded by the industry and should be developed by the academia to respond to this demand.

Organizers:
Esteban Morillo Baro, Servinform, S.A.
Francisco José Domínguez Mayo, Universidad de Sevilla
José González Enríquez, FIDETIA Foundation
Nora Koch, IWT2 Research group

ENWOT 2018
2nd International Workshop on Engineering the Web of Things
http://sisinflab.poliba.it/EnWoT/2018/

The goal of this workshop is to bring the attention of researchers to the opportunities and challenges involved in engineering a web of things.
In the new era of computing the development is evolving from traditional client-server architectures to decentralized multi-device architectures in which people use various types of Web-enabled client devices, and data are stored simultaneously in numerous devices and cloud-based services. This new era will dramatically raise the expectations for device interoperability, implying significant changes for software architecture as well.
EnWoT 2018 aims at attracting contributions related to the subject at different levels, from modelling and design to engineering. Foundational contributions, as well as concrete application experiments are sought.

Organizers:
Marina Mongiello, Polytechnic University of Bari
Niko Mäkitalo, University of Helsinki
Francesco Nocera, Polytechnic University of Bari
Diego Pérez, Linnaeus University

KDWEB 2018
4th International Workshop on Knowledge Discovery on the Web
http://www.iascgroup.it/kdweb2018.html

Knowledge Discovery is an interdisciplinary area focusing upon methodologies for identifying valid, novel, potentially useful and meaningful patterns from such data, and currently is widespread in numerous fields, including science, engineering, healthcare, business, and medicine. Recently, the rapid growth of social networks and online services entailed that Knowledge Discovery approaches focused on the World Wide Web (WWW), whose popular use as global information system led to a huge amount of digital data. KDWeb 2018 is focused on the field of Knowledge Discovery from digital data, with particular attention for Data Mining, Machine Learning, and Information Retrieval methods, systems, and applications.
KDWeb 2018 is aimed at providing a venue to researchers, scientists, students, and practitioners involved in the fields of Knowledge Discovery on Data Mining, Information Retrieval, and Semantic Web, for presenting and discussing novel and emerging ideas. KDWeb 2018 will contribute to discuss and compare suitable novel solutions based on intelligent techniques and applied in real-world applications.

Organizers:
Giuliano Armano, University of Cagliari
Alessandro Bozzon, Delft University of Technology
Matteo Cristani, University of Verona
Alessandro Giuliani, University of Cagliari

WEOD 2018
International Workshop on Engineering Open Data
http://weod.eweb.unex.es/2018/

More and more data is becoming available online every day coming from both the public sector and private sources. Indeed, the open data movement promises to bring to the fingertips of every citizen all the data they need, whether it is for planning their next trip or for government oversight. Most of this data is available via some kind of (semi)structured format (e.g., XML, RDF, JSON,...) which, in theory, facilitates its consumption and combination.
Unfortunately, this is still far from reality. Our society is gradually opening its data but not building the technology and infrastructure required to enable citizens to access and manipulate it. Only technical people have the skills to consume the heterogeneous data sources while the rest is forced to depend on third-party applications or companies.
The aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers, practitioners, stakeholders and users of Open Data. The focus of the workshop will be on practical engineering approaches (a) to design and develop means for promoting the consumption of Open Data and, by leveraging on well-known existing techniques (e.g., conceptual modeling, data mining, data intelligence, etc.), (b) to design and develop composition mechanism that help combining Open Data sources.

Organizers:
Roberto Rodríguez-Echeverría, University of Extremadura
Javier Luis Cánovas Izquierdo, UOC

TourismKG 2018
1st International Workshop on Knowledge Graphs on Travel and Tourism
https://tourismkg.github.io/2018/

Travel and Tourism is a multibillion-dollar industry having a major impact on the global economy. An increasing number of people use applications on the Web to plan their trips. Although current applications are focused on humans, in the era of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, there is a need for machine-readable data.
Semantic Web techniques such as ontologies or vocabularies allow domain experts to represent knowledge with explicit semantics in a machine-readable way. Besides, datasets can be transformed and integrated with this knowledge in order to create the so-called Knowledge Graphs. Such Knowledge Graphs, together with Machine Learning techniques, are used by popular applications such as Siri, Google Now, or Alexa. The success of these applications depends on the existence of high-quality knowledge graphs.
While Knowledge Graphs have been successfully used in other domains such as finance, medical or e-commerce, little attention has been paid to apply these technologies in the Tourism and Travel industry. Thus, the goal of this workshop is to raise the awareness of the importance of Knowledge Graphs on the travel industry and discuss their usage, challenges, enhancement, and ways of commercial exploitation

Organizers:
Mariano Rico, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid
Miriam Scaglione, University of Applied Sciences Valais (HES-SO Valais)
Filip Radulovic, Sépage, Paris
Rodolfo Baggio, Università Bocconi Milano
Freddy Priyatna, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid
Nandana Mihindukulasooriya, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid
