XP 2018___ CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
19th International Conference on Agile Software Development
May 21 - 25, 2018, Porto, Portugal
http://xp2018.org/
___

XP is the premier agile software development conference combining
research and practice. It is an unique forum where agile researchers,
practitioners, thought leaders, coaches, and trainers get together to
present and discuss their most recent innovations, research results,
experiences, concerns, challenges, and trends. XP conferences have
been pushing forward the successful evolution and adoption of agile by
teams and organizations, not only in the software industry and
academia, but also beyond. Whether you are new to agile or a seasoned
agile practitioner, XP 2018 will provide a playful and informal
environment to learn and trigger discussions around its main theme —
make, inspect, adapt. Join us!

FEUP___ PORTO.
XP 2018 will take place in Porto, Portugal, one of Europe's most
ancient cities, considered the “Best European Destination in 2017”,
a charming city that will embrace you as soon as you arrive!
Porto has a growing innovation ecosystem, with several important
startups, full of challenges for agile experts and enthusiasts.
ScaleUp Porto is one of the most recent initiatives of the city.

XP 2018 main venue will be the Faculty of Engineering of University of
Porto (FEUP), promoting Agile in national industry and academia since
2001, and founder of Agile Portugal conferences. FEUP is at walking
distance to the Science and Technology Park of University of Porto
(UPTEC), hosting more than 100 tech startups, and is located in
Asprela Campus, where more than 50,000 people work and learn in one
square kilometer.

CONFERENCE PROGRAM.
XP 2018 has several types of sessions to present and discuss
research and practice on different topics of Agile Software
Development and related areas, where the participants can bring in
either initial ideas, work in progress, preliminary results, ongoing
work, or final findings and results rigorously analyzed and presented.

XP 2018 conference program will mashup a sample of Porto’s attractions,
to promote informal and playful conversations about agile, and to make
sure that your XP’s experience will be un-for-get-ta-ble! (@^◡^)
___

RESEARCH PAPERS. Unpublished high-quality research papers (full and
short) related to agile and lean software development.

RESEARCH WORKSHOPS. Scientific workshop proposals on agile related
topics, to discuss or present results of research and practice, in one
half or full-day. We welcome both already existing well-known
workshops and new cutting-edge workshops in innovative topics.

RESEARCH POSTERS. Poster proposals addressing new research ideas,
research that is in an early state, or industrial experiences, capable
to trigger discussions and collaborations, to get feedback, to
disseminate, or validate work in different states.

DOCTORAL SYMPOSIUM. Submissions from doctoral students, preferably at
a mid-point in their dissertation work (at least 12 months from
defending their dissertation, or having at least a preliminary
research design), to present their work at the symposium and receive
feedback from advisors, and other participants.

INDUSTRY & PRACTICE. Proposals for session topics oriented toward
practitioners, either from industry or academia, that explore
collaboration practices, coaching practices, management practices,
meeting practices, effective communication practices, and games to
promote optimal agile practices, possibly taking advantage of minimal,
yet sufficient, use of tools.

EXPERIENCE REPORTS. Experience reports are firsthand descriptions of
challenges faced, approaches taken, observations and reflections. We
invite proposals that describe in more detail your original,
unpublished experience related to agile and lean software development
and what you intend to focus on in your written report. The sessions
will be oriented toward industry practitioners and welcoming to
interested academics.

TOOLS & DEMOS. Proposals addressing work in progress, commercial or
in-house applications, proofs of concept, results of academic or
industrial research, or any other innovative programming tools or
systems to show work in action, and increase the visibility of results
possibly also submitted as research papers, research posters, doctoral
research plans, and in in workshops.

TUTORIALS & WORKSHOPS. Proposals for both technical and non-technical
sessions oriented toward practitioners, either from industry or
academia. Tutorials should present fairly established material on
topics of interest to agile practitioners and may involve presentation
of material, discussions and group activities. Workshops should
provide a valuable hands-on learning experience, achieved primarily
through activities attendees perform, with more of a peer-to-peer
nature, and may be about exploring a topic further, rather than be
based on knowledge transfer by the presenter to the attendees.

AGILE IN EDUCATION & TRAINING. Proposals of structured sessions
(descriptions, lightning talks, research papers, demos), to mix with
spontaneous “unconference” sessions, addressing educational challenges
in agile that could foster good discussion, such as topics that are
hard to teach effectively, questions about how to assess certain forms
of agile learning, and more.

CO-LOCATED EVENTS. Events addressing topics related with agile are
encouraged to co-locate with XP 2018, therefore taking advantage of the
audience, venue and related facilities, and at the same time enriching
the conference as a whole. Contact us in advance as much as possible.
