CALL FOR PAPERS
SIMULATION MODELLING PRACTICE AND THEORY (ELSEVIER) SPECIAL ISSUE ON “Modeling and Simulation of Cloud Computing and Big Data” --EXTENDED-- SUBMISSION DEADLINE: June 15, 2018 http://ees.elsevier.com/simpat ==================================================================== THEME: Several years now cloud computing has been widely used by the scientific community and industry as users can benefit of the best computing infrastructures at low costs. Cloud computing’s adoption by enterprises is increasing, however there are critical issues which require attention, such as security and trust, to ensure data integrity and confidentiality. There are important issues that must be addressed in cloud computing, such as resource allocation and scheduling, performance, energy conservation, reliability, protection of sensitive data, cost, availability, quality of service. Effective management of cloud resources is important to use effectively the power of these systems and achieve high system performance. Recently, the term big data appears widely in science, business, biology, finance, etc. There are many big data applications and services, e.g. real-time systems monitoring, big healthcare data analytics, financial market activity monitoring. Therefore, appropriate systems and algorithms are required to deal efficiently with big data. The scope of this Special Issue is to present state-of-the-art research covering a variety of concepts on Cloud Computing and Big Data, particularly in the process of modelling, simulation and performance evaluation of these technologies. Papers for the Special Issue must provide a substantial novel contribution, and authors must carefully situate their work with regard to the relevant scientific literature. They must clearly address research issues of Cloud Computing and Big Data and show the role of modelling and simulation in this research area. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: * Cloud and Big Data Systems Modelling, Simulation and Performance Evaluation * Cloud Applications Performance * Hybrid Clouds * HPC in the Cloud * Energy-Aware Clouds * Resource Allocation and Scheduling * Edge Cloud Data Management * Big Data Management in IoT * Big Data Analytics * Big Data as a Service * Big Data Architectures for Large-Scale Applications * Big Data Integrity and Confidentiality * Big Data in Business Performance Management * Big Data Privacy and Security ==================================================================== SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: Manuscripts should be submitted online through the Elsevier Editorial System (EES) at the following link: http://ees.elsevier.com/simpat Authors must select Special Issue: Cloud-Big Data when they reach the “Article Type” step in the on-line submission process. Submitted manuscripts should present original contributions and must not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. All papers will be peer reviewed according to the high standards of the Simulation Modelling Practice and Theory Elsevier journal. Please feel free to contact the Guest Editors for any questions. ==================================================================== IMPORTANT DATES: - Manuscript submission deadline: June 15, 2018 (EXTENDED) - Manuscript reviews to authors: July 31, 2018 - Manuscript revision due: September 30, 2018 - Final notification of acceptance: November 30, 2018 - Expected publication of the special issue: February 2019 ==================================================================== SPECIAL ISSUE EDITORS: Dr. Eleni KARATZA (Email: karatza@csd.auth.gr) Dr. Georgios STAVRINIDES (Email: gstavrin@csd.auth.gr) Department of Informatics Aristotle University of Thessaloniki 54124 Thessaloniki, Greece |
