Call For Papers

EAI ArtsIT 2021 will be held as a fully-fledged online conference (with an on-site possibility).
If the local situation allows it, the event will take place on-site in its original location with an option for all authors to present remotely.
In any case, all matters related to publication and indexing will remain unchanged.

Scope

ArtsIT takes place from December 2nd to 4th as a hybrid event at the UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts Karlsruhe, Germany, and in Cyberspace. The conference brings together researchers, practitioners, artists, and academia to present and discuss the symbiosis between art and information technology. Since 2009 ArtsIT has become a leading scientific forum for the dissemination of cutting-edge research results in the intersection between art, science, culture, performing arts, media, and technology. The role of artistic practice using digital media is also to serve as a tool for analysis and critical reflection on how technologies influence our lives, culture, and society. ArtsIT is therefore not only a place to discuss technological progress but also a place to reflect on the impact of art and technology on sustainability, responsibility, and human dignity. Besides the main track, the event also focuses on the advances seen in two areas that have significantly contributed to the field in the last years, namely, virtualization and artificial intelligence with special sessions (see call for special sessions below).

In October 2019, Karlsruhe was the first and so far, only city in Germany to be awarded with the title of City of Media Arts by the UNESCO. As a member of the international UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) Karlsruhe is a city where media art is part of life in its various forms: at work and during leisure time, in public and institutional spaces, as visitors, participants, or even as contributors. As UNESCO Creative City the City of Karlsruhe is committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals especially the role of creativity and culture in building sustainable urban communities (see https://www.cityofmediaarts.de/ for more information).
