Call For Papers

The aim of the 5th Australian Security and Intelligence Conference (ASIC 2012) is to provide a multi-disciplined event directed towards the research and practice of the broader Security Sciences. For the purpose of the conference the broader security sciences are inclusive of the following disciplines - strategic studies, international relations, criminology, business and management, information science, political science, etc.
The modern security environment is global and complex in nature whilst awash in data and information, therefore it is important to develop strategies for coping with an information overload. Be it the global, national or local level, decision makers require situational awareness, more importantly though making sense of and contextualising situations is critical to making the effective and appropriate decisions. The primary focus of the conference will be on sense making and situational awareness as it applies to decision making in the security domain.

Papers are invited, but not limited to, the following areas:

• Concept of security
• Security policy
• The private and public security debate
• The security industry
• Intelligence and counter-intelligence
• Information and source evaluation
• Resilience
• Personnel security vetting
• Security risk management
• Security decay
• Security Science education
• Security management
• Security technology, such as CCTV, access control, detectors, etc
• Surveillance
• Other related Security Science research

Submissions to the conference are expected to report substantial research results relevant for the subjects listed above. All submitted papers will be double blind peer reviewed.
