Call for Participation: Women in Computer Vision Workshop 2018
OVERVIEW Computer vision has made tremendous progress in recent years over a wide range of areas, and has also become one of the largest computer science research community. However, despite the expansion of our field, the percentage of female faculty members and researchers both in academia and in industry is still relatively low. As a result, most female researchers working in computer vision feel isolated and do not have a lot of opportunities to meet with other women. The workshop on Women in Computer Vision is a gathering for both women and men working in computer vision. The goals of this workshop are to: -- Raise visibility of women in computer vision by presenting invited research talks by women who are role models in this field. -- Give opportunities to junior female students or researchers to present their work via a poster session and travel awards. -- Share experience and career advice for female students and professionals. ELIGIBILITY All female-identifying undergraduate and graduate students, researchers and faculty who are interested in any area of computer vision are encouraged to attend. Travel grants are available for female presenters who are students (undergraduate or graduate), post-docs, and junior industry researchers. SUBMISSION We encourage female students, post-docs, and junior researchers to submit an application through the WiCV CMT site: https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/WICV2018 The application should include an abstract of two pages or less (plus one page for figures), using the CVPR final template. This abstract should describe either new or previously published research. Authors of accepted abstracts will be asked to present their work in a poster or oral session. In addition, some papers will be considered for publication in CVPRW proceedings, visible in CVF and IEEE Computer Society Digital Library. IMPORTANT DATES March 28, 2018 : *Extended* Submission Deadline April 13, 2018 : Acceptance Notification April 20, 2018 : Camera-Ready Due June TBA, 2018 : Mentoring Dinner June 22, 2018 (afternoon) : Workshop TRAVEL AWARDS Final grant amounts will depend on the number of applications received and will be announced soon.
