Call For Papers

Continuing the mission of the first two symposia (NITS 2007 & NITS 2009), the third National Information Technology Symposium will be held in 2011 at King Saud University with the objective to investigate issues related to Arabic and Islamic e-content production starting from reality check to challenges. Developing e-content includes the creation, design, management and distribution of digital products, services, and technologies.
One of the pillars of knowledge society is to become a creative force to share and use knowledge for the well-being of mankind. Current information and communication technologies provide the support to achieve this goal. The Internet is an environment that offers its users many rights and privileges to access information. An important issue that developing countries face is the lack of use of their own native language(s) on the Internet. Therefore, creating content in native language is a major challenge to such countries as they have to cope with many barriers.
Arabic digital content represents only 1% of the whole content on the internet. There is an urgency to place higher regard to developing and enhancing the competitiveness of Arabic content by supporting the production, use, and distribution of Arabic digital content on global networks. Further, Islamic e-content status needs further study and research to play its expected role to preserve and promote Arabic and Islamic heritage for future generations.
NITS 2011 targets to bring together scientists, researchers, industrialists from all spheres related to the subject in order to share experience, knowledge and ideas. Submissions of papers describing original work in, but not limited to, the following topics are eagerly encouraged:
