Workshop on Autonomic and SELF-adaptive systems (WASELF) @ JISBD 2010

September 7th, 2010. Valencia (Spain)
http://quercusseg.unex.es/waself
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Traditionally, handling changing requirements, faults, or upgrades on
different kinds of software-based systems have been tasks performed as
a maintenance activity conducted by human operators at design/development
time. However, factors such as uncertainty in the operational environment,
resource variability, or the critical nature of some systems which cannot
be halted in order to be changed, have lead to the development of systems
able to replan and reconfigure their structure and behaviour at run time
in order to improve their operation without any human intervention.

The goal of this workshop is gathering software engineering researchers
from fields related to the development of self-* systems in order to
identify critical research challenges, as well as discussing models,
techniques, tools and methodologies for the development of complex systems
able to dynamically adapt their behaviour.

TOPICS:
--------

The aim of the workshop is drawing together the community in JISBD
interested in addressing the different aspects related to self-* systems,
emphasizing the importance of integrating different achievements and
devising generic approaches the engineering of such systems. We are
interested in submissions on all topics related to this area. These
include, but are not limited to:

- Self-* requirements.
- Design and architectural language support for self-* systems.
- Design of high-level goals from local interactions.
- Formal notations for modelling and analysis of software self-adaptation
and self-organization.
- Run time composition, evolution, and adaptation models and frameworks.
- Robustness and dependability of self-* systems.
- Verification and validation of self-* systems.
- Decision making techniques in self-* systems.
- Case studies end experience reports.

SUBMISSION DETAILS:
--------------------

Submission of either a position (4-6 pages) or technical paper (10 pages
max.) is allowed. Position papers can describe authors' knowledge in the
area, or interesting experiences in topics related to self-* systems.
Authors must submit their contributions by e-mail, written in English,
Spanish or Portuguese, to the organizers by June 1st, 2010. Files must be
in PDF format, and use the CEDI Style
(http://www.congresocedi.es/2010/contenido.php?apartado=contribuciones⊂=autores).

Every contribution must include the authors' affiliations, contact author
and the topics of interest covered by the work.

More submission details at: http://quercusseg.unex.es/waself

The contributions will be formally reviewed by a Program Committee and the
organizers of the workshop. All selected papers will be made available to
participants, who should read them prior to the workshop to foster a lively
discussion and increase the quality of the results of the workshop. The
accepted papers, as well as the conclusions of WASELF*, will be collected
in an electronic publication with an ISSN.

In addition to the workshop proceedings, a post-proceedings book will be
edited in the Autonomic Systems Series by Birkhauser
(http://www.springer.com/series/8123), published by Springer.

Moreover, selected papers will be also invited for the submission of a
extended version in the REICIS journal
(http://www.ati.es/spip.php?rubrique234).

IMPORTANT DATES:
