The Graz University of Technology, Mountain University Leoben, and Amberg Technology Group are organizing a special session on the topic: "Data Quality Assurance and Pre-processing in Geoscience" for the 4th International Symposium on Machine Learning & Big Data in Geoscience at University College Cork.
The symposium's theme is Data-centric solutions for reshaping the next-generation geo-industries. The session will focus on discussing tools and methods to check and improve the quality of data used in geoscience, including but not limited to discussions on handling sparse, imbalanced, and mislabeled datasets. The session will also address the problem of rare event detection: with a vast amount of collected observations, the events having a significant impact and long-lasting consequences are often the most uncommon in frequency. During the preprocessing, improving the data quality by employing standard tools like noise reduction and outliers' removal may negatively impact the detection of rare events. The session would like to overview the current state-of-the-art and issue some practical recommendations on performing the data quality assessment while preserving the loss of information necessary for rare event detection in geotechnical, engineering, and geoscience datasets. Please submit your 2-page abstract to https://www.ismlg2023.com/abstracts by 22 December 2022 Or send your abstract directly to Ass.Prof.Dr. A.Sapronova alla.sapronova @ tugraz.at |
