Call For Papers

The Malware Technical Exchange Meeting (MTEM), in its twelfth year, will be hosted at The Aerospace Corporation on July 23–25, 2019.
This meeting gathers together practitioners and researchers to present new work and discuss important problems in the area of malware.
The program will consist of three days of deep technical discussions about malware presented by leading figures from government,
industry, and academia. The program will include distinguished keynote speakers, panels of experts, and technical presentations. The
emphasis, as in previous years, will be on actual experience and operational software and tools, and will be of interest to all those working
in the field of detecting, understanding, and responding to malware incidents.

As in previous years, MTEM 2019 will be held primarily at
the SECRET level, with a planned TS/SCI session to allow presentation of work at higher classification levels.

• The general session is classified SECRET.
• The special session attendees must have a TS/SCI clearance.

In addition to its existing focus on general malware topics, MTEM 2019 will introduce new issues related to the dangers of malware
in embedded systems, with emphasis on space systems, particularly for flight systems.

The meeting will welcome presentations covering a wide range of malware topics, including:

• Automated analysis and triage of malware
• Sample analysis of malware
• Detection and situational awareness for malware
• Case studies of malware incidents
• Strategies for malware response
• Information sharing in the malware community
• Malware issues for space flight systems
• Malware issues for space ground systems
• New analysis techniques for studying malware
• Sandboxing technologies for handling malware
• Honeynet and honeypot studies
• Emerging trends in malware design and use
• Economic and sociological issues of the malware creation
and use community
• Targeted malware and persistent threats
• Embedded systems and hardware protection

MTEM 2019 hopes to build on the success of the previous meetings in bringing new ideas to the defense community and fostering
cooperative efforts in the field. We also hope the meeting will bring together the communities of space system designers and
malware researchers to prepare for future malware incidents targeted at space assets. Please save the dates for this meeting and
let your colleagues know about it.
