The Ontological and Foundational Perspectives in Business Process Modelling (onBPM) workshop is focused on foundational and ontological investigations of business processes, business process models, and business process modelling.

Despite that BPM literature providing some business process definitions, as well as a number of different business process modelling languages, several important aspects are still missing: a clear characterisation of what a business process is, what its key elements are, what sets business processes apart from other process entities, and a clear ontological analysis of business process model development.

The goal of this workshop is to explore these missing aspects and to foster discussion on ontological foundations in business process modelling. onBPM aims at investigating the nature of business processes, what distinguishes and characterizes it from other kinds of process, the role of time and temporal representation in business process models, the dependence between real-world business processes and the corresponding models, the “implicit” business process elements that should be taken into consideration in the models, and the impact of ontological decisions in the modelling aspects.

The target audience of the workshop includes researchers and academics from a variety of fields including BPM, formal and foundational ontology, applied philosophy, and conceptual modelling, as well as business practitioners.

*Submissions*
The contributions that will be considered are:
- full papers, following the LNCS format (maximum page limit is 12 pages including bibliography).

- Foundational aspects of business process modelling languages

- Business process ontologies based on ontological analyses
- Ontology-based methodologies and tools that support modellers
