Abstract
The increase in the number of mobile devices and traffic, the change in the nature of service and device, along with the pressure on operation and capital costs, and energy efficiency are all continuously putting stringent limits on the requirement of the design of mobile networks. Moreover, energy efficiency is now at the forefront of the socio-economic agenda, creating emerging market drivers towards energy compliant handsets and networking devices. It is widely accepted that incremental enhancements of current networking paradigm will not achieve or come close to meeting the requirements of networking by 2020. This has led to the need for a new generation of mobile communications: the so-called 5G. New infrastructure elements, such as femto/pico base stations, fixed/mobile relays, cognitive radios, and distributed antennae are being massively deployed, thus making future 5G cellular systems and networks more heterogeneous. In this emerging heterogeneous networking environment, certain communications technologies will play a fundamental role for the successful deployment of 5G systems: cooperation, network coding, smart frontend, and small cells. This workshop will address the current technology trends, widely accepted to form part of 5G, by aiming to a new deployment of small cells based on the notion of mobile small cells. This notion goes beyond the current vision of 5G small cell through disruptive new “femtocell” like paradigms where end-users play the role of prosumers of wireless connectivity, to which we refer to as “Mobile Small Cells”. The workshop especially welcomes submissions from other Initial Training Network (ITN) Early Stage Researchers (ESRs). The areas of interest include but are not limited to: * Green future wireless/mobile networks * Network-Coded Cooperation for future mobile networks * Security for mobile Small Cells * Security in mobile networks based on network-coding * Green RF for future Handsets (5G and beyond) * Enabling Mobile Small Cells and network virtualization * Energy Saving Management (ESM) in heterogeneous networks * IoT applications built on top of small cell deployment * Challenges in future deployment of small cells * Interference and spectrum management * Load balancing, traffic steering, end-to-end traffic steering, mobility management, reliability in ultra-dense small cells * Architectures and protocols for improving energy efficiency in wireless networks Experiments, testbeds and prototypes Important dates Deadline for paper submission: May 15, 2019 Acceptance Notification: June 30, 2019 Camera-Ready Submission: July 31, 2019 Submissions accepted through this EDAS Link: http://edas.info/newPaper.php?c=25426&track=95853 Papers will be judged on originality, correctness, and relevance. Submitted papers must be original work and may not be under consideration for another conference or journal. Accepted papers will be published the conference proceedings.
