Parallel and Distributed Computing and Networks (PDCN 2011) February 15-17, 2011 Innsbruck, Austria SPONSORS The International Association of Science and Technology for Development (IASTED) •Technical Committee on Parallel & Distributed Computing & Systems International Journal of Computers and Applications World Modelling and Simulation Forum (WMSF) CONFERENCE CHAIR Prof. Michael Resch – University of Stuttgart, Germany PUBLICITY CHAIR Dr. Cristian Marinescu – OMICRON, Austria KEYNOTE SPEAKERS Prof. Wolfgang E. Nagel – Dresden University of Technology, Germany Prof. Thomas Fahringer – University of Innsbruck, Austria PURPOSE The Tenth IASTED International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Computing and Networks (PDCN 2011) will act as an international forum for researchers and practitioners interested in the advances in and applications of these areas. It will be an opportunity to present and observe the latest research, results, and ideas in these areas. LOCATION Surrounded by breathtaking views of the distant snowcapped mountains, Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol, is a picturesque town with winding medieval streets. Twice the host of the Winter Olympics, the city is known as an internationally renowned winter sports centre and will be the host of the 1st Winter Youth Olympics in 2012. A perfect getaway for summer and winter sporting enthusiasts alike, Innsbruck’s beautiful town centre is a great attraction, with its historical buildings and friendly ambiance. A must see in Innsbruck is the Goldenes Dachl (Golden Roof). Built when Innsbruck was the seat of the Tyrolean monarchy, the Golden Roof is a remnant from the rule of Emperor Maximilian I. It was built as a tribute to his marriage to his second wife and served as a royal box for the emperor to view tournaments and events in the square below. Another must see is the Schloss Ambras, a castle in the hills above Innsbruck. Built in the 16th century, the castle, which is surrounded by beautiful gardens, houses unique armour and portraits from that time. In good weather, take the opportunity to stroll down Maria Theresa Street to take in the shops and cafés. This main street is ringed by beautiful historic buildings and offers a spectacular view of the mountains.
