First International Workshop on Security via Information Analytics and Applications (SIAnA 2019)

Island of Rhodes, Greece

Part of the On The Move Conferences (CoopIS, C&TC, ODBASE) October 21-25, 2019
http://www.otmconferences.org/index.php/workshops/siana

SCOPE

Cybersecurity is a cross-cutting interdisciplinary research area with many different facets, all contributing towards a secure, and trustworthy cyberspace that preserves the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of computing systems. There have been a lot of research work on many aspects of security, ranging from network security, malware, and phishing, all the way to data analytics, to human-centered interaction, and semantics for cybersecurity.

Different approaches to address research problems in this and related areas utilize and analyze data both at a low (network) level and also at a high (application) level to extract information relevant to solving problems in security. Information technology approaches, data analytics, anonymization techniques, and semantic relevance are just a few examples that take advantage of data to identify and prevent cyber-attacks, generate security models, assess trustworthiness, etc.

The goal of this workshop is to provide a platform for emerging ideas in solving security problems based on an information point of view. It aims to bring together researchers and practitioners who are interested in addressing security issues using information technologyW, and contribute possible solutions to such problems.

The workshop emphasizes on use, manipulation, extraction of information to be used for generating solutions for problems in cybersecurity research. The targeted audience includes academicians, practitioners, students, and anyone conducting research in one or more of the workshop topics. Applications of security utilizing various information approaches are also welcome from practitioners and industry.

TOPICS OF INTEREST
The topics of this workshop include but are not limited to:
• Cybersecurity and data analytics
• Context (situation awareness) and cybersecurity
• Semantics and cybersecurity
• Information fusion for cybersecurity
• Multiplex networks for cybersecurity
• Software flaw identification and removal
• Intrusion detection and prevention via information extraction
• Data Science for cybersecurity
• Security informatics for big data environments
• Information analytics for cyber-physical systems security
• Anonymization for cybersecurity
• Graph representations for cybersecurity
• Reasoning for cybersecurity
• Cryptography

IMPORTANT DATES
Paper Submission Deadline: July 31 2019
Acceptance Notification: 20 August 2019
Camera Ready Due: 30 August 2019
Registration Due: 30 August 2019 (firm deadline)
OTM Conferences and Workshops: 21-25 October 2019
Second Camera Ready Upload (optional): 1st December 2019

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Submitted papers will be refereed by at least three members of the workshop Program Committee, based on originality, significance, technical soundness and clarity of expression. Submissions must be in English and are of two types: full papers and short papers. Full papers should not exceed 10 pages in the final camera-ready format. Short papers, of at most 5 pages in the final camera-ready format, may relate to a software tool demonstration, describe a small case study, or explore preliminary ideas about a relevant topic. Papers should be formatted according to the Springer Verlag LNCS style and submitted in PDF format. Author instructions can be found at: http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html.

Paper submission site: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=siana2019

Papers, demos and posters presenting ongoing studies relevant to the workshop’s topics are encouraged for submission.

Accepted workshop papers (full papers or short papers) will be published by Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) in the post-conference Workshop Proceedings where papers not being presented at the workshop will be removed from the final proceedings. Papers published in these Proceedings will be indexed by ISI, ACM Digital Library, DBLP and Google Scholar. The deadline for the upload of an accepted Draft camera ready (CR) version and of the copyright form is 30 August 2019. However, for all accepted workshop papers there is an additional (optional) “FinalCR” upload deadline on 1st December 2019, allowing authors to correct and improve their submissions based on their participation in the OnTheMove event. Final CR papers must respect the original copyright form (only submitted once) by title, authors and content.

Failure to commit to presentation at the workshop automatically excludes a paper from the post-conference Workshop Proceedings.
