Chapter Proposals Submission Deadline: 15/10/2010 Full Chapters Due Date: 20/12/2010 Cloud Computing for Enterprise Architectures (To be published in “Computer Communications and Networks” book series by Springer, 2011) Edited by: Dr Zaigham Mahmood, University of Derby, UK Dr Richard Hill, University of Derby, UK Introduction: With the development of data, applications and technical architectures deploying paradigms such as Service Oriented and Grid Infrastructures, Cloud Computing is becoming a reality for large enterprises. Whilst Cloud Computing promises benefits such as reduced costs, on-demand availability of agile services and re-allocation of costs from capital investment to operational expenditure, there are also many challenges that hinder the full realization of the potential that Cloud infrastructures promise to offer. Faced with this, an Enterprise Architect needs to be able to correctly relate the application, information and technology architectures to the Cloud characteristics of Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). Recent reports suggest that Enterprises are moving beyond experimentation and beginning to develop management software to deal with scaled Cloud environments and the enterprise-level policies for dealing with Public and Hybrid Clouds. It is important that the necessary guidance is available to enterprise architects and business leaders to enable them to successfully utilize the relevant technologies to align the enterprise IT strategies with their business mission and long term objectives including developing appropriate strategies for Cloud infrastructures to implement enterprise architectures. Overall Objective of the Book: The proposed book aims to present researched articles to describe and explore Cloud Computing concepts, principles, infrastructures, tools, technologies and deployment models in the context of development and deployment of Enterprise Architectures: these being Data, Information, Application and Technology Architectures. It also aims to investigate the issues inherent in Cloud Computing approaches and limitations with respect to associated frameworks, tools and technologies: these being the issues with respect to data and service management, product and process monitoring, infrastructure reliability, system availability and information security. The main focus is on the synergies between Service Oriented Architectures, Grid Computing Frameworks and Enterprise Cloud Computing and the impact that these latest paradigms have on the maturing discipline of Enterprise Architectures. It is important that successful case studies are also reported. Here, the objective is to present and discuss these with a view to suggesting recommendations and best practices for Enterprise Architects and business managers so that enterprise services may be deployed and implemented more effectively. In summary, the objectives are: 1) to capture the state-of-the-art in Enterprise Architecture approaches with respect to Cloud Computing models, frameworks, technologies and applications; 2) to identify potential research directions and technologies to facilitate the creation of a global market-place of cloud computing architectural solutions that support business and Information Technology alignment through consumer applications; 3) to provide relevant theoretical frameworks and the latest empirical research findings; 4) to clarify the present fast-advancing approaches and somewhat confusing literature on the current state of the art and knowledge in the subject area and 5) to advance the understanding and the newly emerging field of Enterprise Cloud Computing. Target Audience: The target audience includes: 1) Enterprise Architects and Business Analysts; 2) Business leaders and IT infrastructure managers; 3) Software developers, network specialists and practitioners of enterprise computing; 4) Lecturers and tutors of Enterprise Cloud Architecture and 5) Researchers and university level students. Topics: The intension is that the book has 6 sections as follows: Section 1: Cloud Computing: Concepts, Principles and Technologies Section 2: Enterprise Data, Applications and Technical Architectures Section 3: Cloud Computing for Enterprise Architectures Section 4: Enterprise Cloud Computing: Issues and Limitations Section 5: Enterprise Cloud Computing: Governance and Control Section 6: Case Studies Recommended topic areas include, but are not limited to: • Architectures for cloud computing • Business models of cloud computing • Principles, concepts and methodologies of enterprise architecture for cloud computing • Tools and technologies of cloud computing and impact on enterprise architecture approaches • Quality of Service (QoS) models • 'Elastic', on-demand allocation and management of resources to meet business needs • Benefits and limitations of enterprise clouds • New programming and development paradigms • Security, data integrity, legal and governance issues for enterprise clouds • Internetworking architectures for clouds • Portability of architectures, applications and data between cloud providers • Reliability and maintenance of cloud-based business architectures • Architectures for Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) • Enterprise Architecture for the Cloud and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) • Content delivery network architecture using Storage Clouds • Experience with designing, building and using Cloud infrastructure • Novel application architectures, best practices, case studies and surveys Submission Information: Academics, researchers and industry practitioners are invited to submit 2-page manuscript proposals in the form of an abstract detailing the background, the objective and structure of their proposed chapter and abroad indication of the subject matter to be covered - by 15 Oct 2010. Authors of accepted proposals will be notified within 2 weeks. Full chapters are due by 20 December 2010 and should be about 10,000 words or 15-20 pages in length. All chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind basis: emphasis will be on relevance, quality and originality. The book is scheduled to be published in the “Computer Communications and Networks” book series by Springer in 2011.
