ICPEC: 5th International Computer Programming Education Conference https://icpeconf.org/ Iscte - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, Portugal ISTAR – Information Sciences, Technologies and Architecture Research Center 27th-28th June 2024 -------------------------------------------------------------------- Computer programming is a fascinating area but poses numerous challenges for learners. Teachers need techniques and methodologies to facilitate the teaching of programming and to help learners develop problem-solving skills. Learners not only need assistance in understanding programming concepts but also to overcome barriers, which cause poor motivation, preventing them from developing their programming skills and pursuing further knowledge in this area. ICPEC aims to be a forum where teachers and researchers discuss methodologies, best practices, trends, techniques, and tools to improve the teaching-learning process of computer programming. New this ICPEC edition: tool demonstrations. Topics of Interest We encourage submissions of novel and innovative work related to programming education, within, but not limited to, the following topics: - Educational environments and tools - End-user software development - Gamification and game-based learning - Software development in specific technical domains (e.g. database systems, physical computing, cybersecurity, cloud computing) - Learning management systems (LMS) - Intelligent tutoring systems (ITS) - Automated assessment systems - E-learning and blended-learning - Learning analytics - Primary, secondary and university education; industry training - Large language models (LLM) for generation, feedback, and assessment of educational content - Program visualization; virtual and augmented reality - Massive open online courses (MOOC) - Teaching methodologies Submission All submissions will be managed through the EasyChair online system at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icpec24 Paper types - Full papers — 8 to 12 pages; validated work, may include a tool demonstration; - Short papers — 5 to 8 pages; ongoing work, or tool demonstration; - Posters - 2 pages; early stage work, or tool demonstration. Papers should be written in English and should follow OASIcs template: https://submission.dagstuhl.de/documentation/authors Accepted papers will be published in open-access on OASIcs, and indexed on SCOPUS and DBLP. At least one author for each accepted paper must register for the conference. Please refer to the conference website https://icpeconf.org for all details.
