A heartbeat. That is what multimedia represents for any mobile system. Text, audio, images and videos are of a paramount importance for all kinds of users, and are hugely transmitted over mobile networks. Also, transition from 3rd generation (3G) to 4th generation (4G) and eminently to 5th generation (5G) raises hopes for better multimedia content transmission in terms of quality, bandwidth, delay and error rate. However, fulfilling these requirements do not depend only on the mobile communication infrastructure, but also on the media content itself. Encoding, compression, modeling and, more generally, representation of the multimedia content is a milestone and key component of a successful user experience. The aim of MICARE (MultImedia Content Analysis, and REpresentation) special session is to highlight the problems and challenges of multimedia content analysis, and to bring together researchers in the field of signal (image, audio, video, …) processing along with researchers in the fields of mobile communication and wireless networks to discuss, exchange ideas and broaden their respective scopes.
The topics of interest of the special session include, but are not limited to: Object recognition Shape, Illumination, Shading and Texture Data-Driven Geometry, Lighting, and Materials 3D reconstruction 3D face analysis and facial rigging 3D navigation and interfaces 3D imaging, visualization, animation, virtual reality and 3DTV Multimedia indexing, search, retrieval and browsing on the Web Multimedia content analysis and understanding Advanced descriptors and similarity metrics for Multimedia Multimedia communication, networking, and mobility Multimedia vision, security, content protection and forensics Multimedia quality assessment Multimedia summarizing and visualization Feature extraction and selection Classification and clustering Image/video enhancement and segmentation Color, texture and motion analysis Image/video compression, coding and watermarking Tracking and real-time imaging Pattern recognition Machine learning Medical imaging Big data for multimedia analytics Paper submission Papers should contain original material, which is not currently under review in any other conference or journal and has not been previously published. All submissions should be written in English with a maximum paper length of six (devil) printed pages standard IEEE conference two-column format (minimum 10-point font) including figures, without incurring additional page charges (maximum 2 additional pages, with over length page fee). All submitted papers will go through a peer review process. Questions about paper submissions or the conference program can be addressed to any of the Program Chairs. Standard IEEE Transactions templates for Microsoft Word or LaTeX formats can be found at: http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html Only PDF files will be accepted for the review process and all submissions must be done through EDAS online submission system: https://edas.info/newPaper.php?c=29328&track=112608 You are invited to submit papers in all areas of wireless communications networks. · Accepted and presented papers will be published in the conference proceedings and submitted to IEEE Xplore as well as other Abstracting and Indexing (A&I) databases. · Papers of particular merit will be recommended for a possible special issue in an international journal. · There will also be best papers awards. The WINCOM Proceedings have been indexed in the past by ISI, dblp and Scopus.
