The conference will be held in the city of Évora, Portugal, on June 5-7, 2023, and it is a joint organization of University of Porto and University of Coimbra with the collaboration of University of Évora. The conference will feature the technical support of IEEE (IEEE Industrial Electronics Society and IEEE Education Society) and the Portuguese Engineers Association. expat’23 will run for three days and a post-conference technical day on June 8, providing a forum of discussion and collaboration between academics, researchers and industry and medicine professionals, trying to bridge the gap between academic applications and the real world needs and experiences. It offers to the participants an opportunity to present their recent work and to take part in technical/special sessions, workshops, exhibition sessions (Demos’23), discussion tables and thematic visits in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Évora, European Capital of Culture in 2027. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TOPICS OF INTEREST ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The topics of interests include (not limited to): • Online Experimentation • Remote & Virtual Labs • Remote sensing and IoT • Remote Monitoring & Mobile sensing • Geoinformatics & Hydroinformatics • Agriculture 4.0 • Smart Cities and Smart Societies • Environment Monitoring • Contributions for Sustainability • Industry 4.0/5.0 • Online Systems for Health & Rehab • Challenges of Eng. Edu in the 4.0 era • Augmented and Virtual Reality • Cross Reality • Haptic Interfaces & Sensorial Devices • Gamification & Serious Games • Intelligent Systems and Algorithms • Collaborative Environments & Tools • Online health training systems • Online Training Systems • Collaborative/Soft Robotic Systems • Human-Computer Interaction • Collaborative Tools • Volunteered Geographic Information ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DEMOS (EXHIBITION) SESSION ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Demo (Exhibition) Session of the expat'23 aims at creating an environment where participants are encouraged to interactively demonstrate developed tools, systems and products in the field of online engineering and other supporting technologies. Academic as well as exhibitors from industrial partners are welcome. The proposal for a demonstration activity should be submitted as a two-pages extended abstract. The abstract should clearly describe the proposed demonstration and its relevance for the audience of expat'23 Conference. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CONFERENCE LANGUAGE, REVIEW PROCESS AND PUBLICATIONS ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The official language of the Conference is English. The articles and extended abstracts (demos) will be under double blind peer review process. Accepted papers and demos will be published in electronic format and will be submitted for acceptance into the IEEE Xplore® paper database. IEEE Xplore® will index accepted papers and demos meeting IEEE requirements of content and format.
