Call for Extended Abstracts

Ph.D. Forum on Pervasive Computing and Communications
IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communications (PerCom'13)
San Diego California March 18-22, 2013

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PerCom 2013 will host the Sixth Annual Ph.D. Forum on Pervasive Computing and Communications. The Ph.D. Forum will provide an opportunity for Ph.D. students to present their dissertation research, including work in progress, to the pervasive computing and communication community. In addition, the Forum will provide a platform for participants to meet with reputed International researchers in pervasive computing and communications. The Forum will be organized as a combined one-day workshop prior to the PerCom conference and a poster session during the main conference to encourage interaction between Ph.D. students and researchers from academia, industry, and government. We are working with IBM Research to continue to sponsor the Ph.D. Forum.

Current Ph.D. students and researchers who have completed their Ph.D. dissertations since May 2012 are encouraged to submit extended abstracts. Submissions that are substantially similar to presentations a previous Ph.D. Forum are not allowed. The Ph.D. student should be the sole author, although contributions of the advisor and others should be acknowledged. Submissions will be reviewed by the Ph.D. Forum Committee to ensure quality and relevance. Authors of accepted submissions are expected to travel to PerCom 2013 to be held in San Diego during March 18-22, 2013 to participate in the Ph.D. Forum Workshop and to present a poster at the PerComĂ12 conference. Standard PerCom 2013 registration fees apply. Participants who are current full-time students are eligible for the student registration fee.
The Ph.D. Forum Committee will evaluate all of the submitted extended abstracts. Accepted abstracts will appear in the conference proceedings and will be indexed by DBLP and the IEEE digital library. A second evaluation phase will occur at the conference based on the poster and the participantsĂ discussions during the poster session. Special recognition will be given to the most innovative and/or most promising research project(s) presented at the Ph.D. Forum. As in previous years, we expect to receive sponsorship for this event from a leading organization. The Ph.D. forum is likely to be sponsored by a reputed Industry.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION:

The extended abstract needs to be registered by November 30, 2012 and the two-page submission must be received by no later than December 15, 2012. Extended abstracts should include the author's name, affiliation, and email address. Submissions must be PDF files and be written in English.
