The human capacity to abstract complex systems and phenomena into simplified models has played a critical role in the rapid evolution of our modern industrial processes and scientific research. As a science and an art, Modelling and Simulation have been one of the core enablers of this remarkable human trace, and have become a topic of great importance for researchers and practitioners. The increasing availability of massive computational resources, and interconnectivity has helped fuel tremendous advances in the field, collapsing previous barriers and redefining new horizons for its capabilities and applications. The European Conference on Modelling and Simulation (ECMS) is the international conference dedicated to help define the state of the art in the field. For several years, ECMS has proven to be an outstanding forum for researchers and practitioners from different fields involved in creating, defining and building innovative simulation systems, simulation and modelling tools and techniques, and novel applications for modelling and simulation. The jubilee 25th edition of the ECMS will be held in the beautiful historical city of Kraków in Poland, the former capital of the country. Kraków has several high-education and research centers including 11 large universities and the research parks of high-tech companies like Motorola, Fujitsu, and others, a concentration of local talent and expertise that will help make ECMS a great success once again. The easy accessibility of Kraków will attract the conference members from all European countries as well as from Asia and America, providing a unique international forum. The conference will be hosted by the Cracow University of Technology and University of Bielsko-Biala, in collaboration with the AGH University of Science and Technology and the Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (USA). ECMS 2011 has an accreditation of Polish Academy of Sciences. The ECMS 2011 features an outstanding technical programme including keynote speeches, special tracks on selected state-of-the- art modelling and simulation topics, a Best-Paper Award, accompanying exhibitions and an attractive social programme. Papers will be fully refereed and published in the conference proceedings. The best conference contributions will be further published in two-volumes post conference Springer book as well as in special issues of selected international journals. |
