Smart cities (also smarter cities) use digital technologies to enhance performance and wellbeing, to reduce costs and resource consumption, and to engage more effectively and actively with its citizens. Developing a smart city to better support growing urban population is a global and complex challenge and involves interdisciplinary fields. Key ‘smart’ sectors include transportation, smart building, energy, health care, and water systems.
IEEE SmartCity-2026 is aiming to be a premier international conference in smart city. This conference is to bring together computer scientists, industrial engineers and researchers to discuss and exchange experimental or theoretical results, novel designs, work-in-progress, experience, case studies, and trend-setting ideas in the area of smart city. SmartCity-2026 will be held in Luoyang, China, a historic city renowned for its rich cultural heritage and as one of the ancient capitals of China. The city features world-famous landmarks such as the Longmen Grottoes and the White Horse Temple, offering an inspiring environment that blends tradition with modern innovation. Prospective authors are invited to submit their papers to SmartCity-2026. Accepted papers will be submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore, subject to meeting IEEE Xplore’s scope and quality requirements. Authors of selected best papers will be invited to extend their work for special issues of prestigious journals planned in conjunction with the conference. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Track 1: Smart City Systems Smart buildings Smart transportation Smart environment and economy Energy-efficient smart grid systems Smart grid system management Citizen engagement and smart governance Track 2: Data Processing Technology Data representation and processing Machine learning and deep learning Graph neural networks Semi-supervised and unsupervised learning Statistical, mathematical, and probabilistic modeling and theories Information retrieval Data visualization Track 3: Data Systems Storage and file systems High-performance access toolkits Compiler and runtime support Real-time data-intensive systems Multi-/many-core platforms Big data and cloud computing Track 4: Data Applications Business and financial applications Industrial data applications Bioinformatics applications Healthcare and medical services Applications in soil and water HPC systems for data applications Future data applications Paper Submission All papers need to be submitted electronically through the conference submission website (https://edas.info/N35261) in PDF format. The materials presented in the papers should not be published or under submission elsewhere. All submissions will undergo a single-blind peer-review process and will be evaluated on the basis of their technical quality, originality, significance, and relevance to the conference. Each paper is limited to 8 pages (or 10 pages with over-length charge) for a regular full paper, 6 pages (or 8 pages with over-length charge) for a full paper including figures and references using the IEEE Computer Society Proceedings manuscripts style. Paper Publication Papers accepted by IEEE SmartCity 2026 conference will be published by the IEEE Computer Society Press. At least one author of each accepted paper is required to register and present their work at the conference; otherwise, the paper will not be included in the proceedings. All accepted papers will be submitted to IEEE Xplore and EI. Distinguished papers presented at the conference, after further revision, will be invited for submission to a special issue. |
