The purpose of this special issue is to investigate the applicability of complex networks in the analysis of smart environments (e.g., Smart Cities, Smart Grids, Industrial IoT and so on) and the management of related services (e.g., smart mobility, load balancing, smart logistics and so on). A smart environment is indeed a physical environment composed of several cooperating devices enriched with sensing, actuation, communication and computation capabilities. They operate in a distributed way to achieve common goals and/or execute specific services. The purpose of complex networks in smart environments can be strategic to characterize the structure of the distributed system as a whole and analyze systems dynamics and their spatial and temporal evolution. complex networks could be also adopted to optimize the management and deployment services in distributed environments. This would lead to the development of innovative distributed techniques in the field of IoT networks, Edge or Cloud computing, or to investigate new research topics in distributed services management. ########### Topics: ########### Topics of the SI include (but are not limited to): - Complex networks modeling smart environments - Complex networks modeling service management in the Edge-Cloud continuum - Structural network properties and analysis to address smart environments features - Methods for the analysis of smart environments through graph structures - Resilience and Robustness of Complex Networks aimed at smart environments - Link Prediction for distributed networks - Multilayer distributed networks - Geo-localized social networks - Criminal and terrorist networks and safe management in smart environments - Smart Cities, Smart Grids and Smart Systems - Temporal and spatial networks - Complex network approaches to support computing in Cloud/Edge systems - Network partition and Data distribution - Sustainable and reusable service management - Complex Networks on Mobile Clouds - Distributed Security ########### Submission Format and Guideline: ########### All submitted papers must be written in excellent English and contain only original work, which has not been published by or is currently under review for any other journal or conference.
