The 1st International Conference on Sustainable Energy: Toward Energy Transition and Net-Zero Emission” is a prestigious academic forum organized by Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) through collaboration between the Faculty of Engineering and Sekolah Vokasi, in partnership with the University of Chile (Chile), UiTM Sarawak Branch (Malaysia), and supported by CAS-ANSO (Chinese Academy of Sciences-Alliance of International Science Organizations). Driven by the urgent global need to accelerate the transition to clean energy and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 in line with global commitments such as the Paris Agreement, the conference highlights Indonesia’s strategic role as a developing country with abundant natural resources. Serving as an important platform for academics, policymakers, industry players, and civil society, the event facilitates discussions on innovative and sustainable energy solutions. The conference focuses on four main clusters: (1) Upstream-Downstream Innovation for Just Energy Transition, (2) Energy Transition and Regional Development, (3) Biodiversity Conservation in the Net-Zero Agenda, and (4) Mastery of Technology for Renewable Energy—topics that hold significant scientific, social, economic, and environmental relevance at both national and international levels. Through this initiative, the conference aims to foster cross-sectoral synergy, promote green investment, and strengthen Indonesia’s role in the global discourse on sustainable energy and environmental preservation.
