CALL FOR PAPERS
Technical Symposium at ITU Telecom World 2011 (ITU WT11) Global Technical Symposium on Communications Technologies and Enablers URL: http://www.itu.int/WORLD2011/ Geneva, Switzerland, 25-27 October 2011 SCOPE AND MOTIVATION ITU Telecom events have traditionally provided a global focal point for all stakeholders in the public and private sectors involved in the development of networks and services. The emphasis in the past has been on exhibitions displaying new technologies. But now ITU Telecom World 2011 brings a new focus to ITU Telecom events in which the emphasis is on networking, knowledge-sharing and consensus-building and in these activities the Technical Symposium plays a pivotal role. The Technical Symposium at ITU Telecom World 2011 focuses on knowledge-sharing in the area of communications technologies and enablers. Whilst the application of new technologies has created a number of major challenges for the ICT sector, it is their further development to address broad issues such as interoperability and openness between devices, services and networks that will turn those challenges into opportunities. The Technical Symposium at ITU Telecom World 2011 invites the ICT community to share information on technological developments that will define and influence the future of networks and services. Original contributions are welcomed from players across the entire ICT ecosystem and are intended to reflect current technological advances and capabilities within R&D communities as well as forthcoming commercial deployments. Contributions that include a consideration of relevant issues in emerging economies and markets are particularly welcomed. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Applications Broadcast and cable Cloud computing Cognitive networks e-everything Feature interaction Future access networks Future internet Identity management Interworking and interoperability IT applications Mobile broadband Multimedia devices Multimedia services New materials Packet transport and optical networks QoE and telecoms management Satellite services Security Smart grids Spectrum management Traffic management XaaS IMPORTANT DATES o Deadline for Submission of Review Manuscripts: March 21st , 2011 o Notification of Paper Acceptance: May 27th , 2011 o Final Paper: July 30, 2011 ORGANISING COMMITTEE Mr Blaise Judja-Sato, Executive Manager, ITU Telecom Dr Stuart Sharrock, Co-chairman, Technical Programme Committee Dr Marko Jagodic, Co-chairman, Technical Programme Committee Dr Roberto Saracco, Comsoc, Director, Telecom Italia Mr Bosco Fernandes, Chairman, ITU Telecom World 2011 Forum Advisory Committee TECHNICAL PROGRAMME COMMITTEE Co-chairs: Marko Jagodic, Iskratel, Slovenia Stuart Sharrock, Telemates, UK Members: Ivan Andonovic, University of Strathclyde, UK Duncan Bees, Home Gateway Initiative, Canada Steve Bell, KeySo Global, USA Thomas Michel Bohnert, SAP, Switzerland Marcus Brunner, ComSoc TC Network Operations & Management, IEEE Marco Carugi, ZTE, France Asok Chatterjee, Ericsson, USA Chi-ming Chen, ComSoc TC Communications Quality and Reliability, IEEE Hsiao-Hwa Chen, ComSoc TC Communications & Information Security, IEEE Luis Correia, IST – Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal Davide Dardari, ComSoc TC Radio Communications, IEEE Anton Donner, DLR, Germany Frank Effenberger, Huawei Technologies, USA Takashi Egawa, Focus Group on Future Networks, ITU-T Tarek El-Bawab, ComSoc TC Transmission, Access, & Optical Systems, IEEE Igor Faynberg, Alcatel-Lucent, USA Alojz Hudobivnik, Iskratel, Slovenia Philip Kelley, Alcatel-Lucent, France Chaesub Lee, SG13 Future networks including Mobile and NGN, ITU-T Anders Lundqvist, Oracle, Sweden Thomas Magedanz, Fraunhofer FOKUS, Germany Roger Marks, WiMAX Forum, USA Robin Mersh, Broadband Forum, USA Roberto Minerva, Telecom Italia, Italy Kou Miyake, NTT Service Integration Labs., Japan Naohide Nagatsu, NTT Corporation, Japan Tomoaki Ohtsuki, ComSoc TC Signal Processing & Communications Electronics, IEEE Hideo Okinaka, KDDI, Japan Adrian Scrase, 3GPP, France Mohammad Shakouri, WiMAX Forum, USA Peter Siebert, DVB Project, Switzerland Ravi Subrahmanyan, Immedia Semiconductor, USA Rakesh Taori, Samsung Electronics, South Korea Josef Urban, Nokia Siemens Networks, Germany Geoff Varrall, RTT Programmes, UK Fiona Williams, Net!Works, Germany Nader Zein, NEC Europe, UK Zuqing Zhu, University of Science and Technology of China, China SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Authors are invited to submit review manuscripts of up to six double-column, IEEE conference-style pages. A review manuscript of between 1000 and 1500 words in PDF format should then be uploaded for review by the Technical Programme Committee. Only PDF files are accepted for paper review. Detailed instructions for authors on using EDAS can be found at http://edas.info/doc/authors.html. Review manuscripts and final papers should conform to templates that can be downloaded from http://www.ieee.org/web/publications/pubservices/confpub/AuthorTools/conferenceTemplates.html. Review manuscripts should include relevant figures and tables describing results and should indicate how the manuscript will evolve into a final paper. Examples of review manuscripts and final papers that illustrate good practice in these areas are available on request from technical.symposium@itu.int. All review manuscripts will be carefully evaluated on the following criteria: originality, significance, technical soundness, clarity of expression and interest to a wide audience. The ITU WT11 Technical Symposium conference proceedings will be published within the IEEE Conference Publications Program and individual papers will be indexed within the IEEE Xplore digital library. At least one of the authors of an accepted paper must attend the Technical Symposium to present the paper. An accepted paper must be registered before the registration deadline. ITU reserves the right to exclude a paper from distribution after the conference if the paper is not presented at the symposium. For further information please contact: Technical.Symposium@itu.int |
