Call For Papers

Networks of today are going through a rapid evolution. Different kinds of
systems
with different characteristics are emerging and they are integrating in
heterogeneous
networks. For these reasons, there are many interconnection problems which
may occur
at different levels in the hardware and software design of communicating
entities
and communication networks. These kinds of networks need to manage an
increasing
usage demand, provide support for a significant number of services, guarantee
their
QoS, and optimize the utilization of network resources. Also, the information
systems
are composed of various kinds of objects which are interconnected by
communication
networks. The standard object-based framework of the distributed applications
is
developed in order to realize the interoperability of the applications by
taking
the advantages of the communication and platform infrastructure. It is now
critical
and significant to discuss how the network systems can realize interoperable,
cooperative, and flexible information systems. The communication networks of
today can support high-speed data transmission and advanced multimedia
applications
like e-Commerce, Web applications and Distance Learning. Presently, there are
new
trends in ubiquitous computation systems, Peer-to-Peer (P2P), and Grid
computing
systems, which can be widely used in various applications.

NBiS started as a workshop and was held for 9 years together with DEXA
International
Conference. The workshop has been very successful in quantity and quality. We

received every year a lot of paper submissions, but as workshop we could
accept
only a limited number of papers. Last year, NBiS ran as an International
Conference
together with DEXA. NBiS2008 is the second NBiS. We encourage researchers
working
in networks and distributed systems fields to submit their papers.

The main objective of NBiS is to bring together researchers from both network

systems and information systems with the aim of encouraging the exchange of
ideas
and experience between these two communities. It will represent an
international
forum to give an overview of the most recent trends. The NBiS seeks original
contributions in all relevant areas, including but not limited to the
following
topics.

Submission Guidelines
Authors are invited to submit original research contributions in English.

1. The submitted manuscript should closely reflect the final paper as it will
appear in the Proceedings.
2. Papers should not exceed 10 pages in LNCS format
(http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html)
3. Any submission that exceeds length limits or deviates from formatting
requirements may be rejected without review.

Submitted papers will be carefully evaluated based on originality,
significance,
technical soundness, and clarity of exposition. Authors are requested to
submit
their paper electronically to the NBiS web
(http://www.takilab.org/conf/nbis/2008)
before February 29, 2008.
Duplicate submissions are not allowed. A submission is considered to be a
duplicate
submission if, at any time during the time when the submission is under
consideration,
there is another paper with the following properties:

1. the main technical content of the paper substantially overlaps that of the

DEXA, DaWaK, EC-Web, TrustBus submission; and
2. the paper is published or under consideration for publication in a
refereed
journal or proceedings (electronic or printed) that is generally available
(e.g., not limited to conference attendees).

Authors are expected to agree to the following terms:
"I understand that the paper being submitted must not overlap substantially
with any other paper that I am a co-author of and that is currently
submitted
elsewhere. Furthermore, previously published papers with any overlap are
covered prominently in this submission."

Duplicate submissions will be rejected. Questions about this policy or how it

applies to your work should be directed to the PC-chairs.

For further inquiries, please contact the Conference Chairpersons Prof.
Makoto
Takizawa (makoto.takizawa@computer.org) or Prof. Leonard Barolli
(barolli@fit.ac.jp).

All accepted conference papers will be published in "Lecture Notes in
Computer
Science" (LNCS) by Springer Verlag.
