As the World Wide Web grows, it is becoming more and more complex for humans to efficiently find and exploit the information we need. The underlying idea of having a description of data available on the Web, organized in such a way as to be used by machines for automation, integration and reuse across various applications, has been promoted by a number of research fields.
The Sixth International Workshop on “Semantic Web Information Management" (SWIM) aims to review the most recent data-centered solutions for the Semantic Web. In particular, the workshop’s ambition is to present and analyze techniques for semantic information management, taking advantage of the synergies between the logical basis of the Semantic Web and the logical foundations of conceptual modeling. Indeed, a leitmotif of these research areas is the proposal of models and methods to represent and manage appropriately structured data, permitting it to be easily machine-processable on the Web. The long-standing experience of the information modeling community can provide a significant contribution to the substantial problems arising in semantic data management using technologies such as RDF, RDFS and OWL. Contributions are invited for novel research addressing these issues. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Efficiently and Effectively storing large amount of semantic data Querying and Reasoning about semantic data Exploiting such semantic data in real world scenarios This workshop would cover the emerging area of Semantic Web calling researchers to debate, propose, and elaborate the foundations for a data-modeling approach to these problems, by presenting running research and projects on these topics. |
