ICOST 2010 is pleased to announce 8th International Conference On Smart homes and health Telematics. The theme is 'Aging Friendly Technology for Health and Independence'.
At present, absolute numbers and proportion of the elderly population has been increasing globally, while the numbers of human resources that could care the elderly have been diminishing. Due to this, a burden on life of the individual elderly and our society has been pressing. Thus, Information & Communication Technology (ICT) is a promising and pioneering field that mitigates the burden in everyday life settings and broadens beneficial opportunities. It has been expected that various technologies ranged from simple ICT to complex ICT, fixed service to mobile service, services for relatively healthy elderly to services for frail elderly are to be extended and the technology is also expected to be developed towards more ambient and user friendly way. This ICT growth would contribute in enhancing people¡¯s life quality by being merged into diverse life environment. There is a great significance in ICT field¡¯s development to hold this conference in South Korea as South Korea is aging very quickly and expected to face agequake in the future and is the ICT leading country.
