International Workshop on Cloud Services (IWCS 2009)
In conjunction with 7th IEEE International Conference on Web Services (ICWS 2009) July 10, 2009, Los Angeles, CA, USA http://www.servicescongress.org/2009/1/IWCS-2009.html ============================================================== Important Dates: - Paper Submission: March 16, 2009 - Decision Notification (Electronic): April 2, 2009 - Camera-Ready Submission & Pre-registration: April 10, 2009 Call for Papers: Cloud computing is an emerging dynamic scalable model of IT for web-delivered services ("Internet of Services") that is increasingly applied to smartly interconnect people, processes, applications, places, things, and information to generate economic or social value with high quality of experience and low cost. The cloud promises to fundamentally alter how we think of, procure and use IT where end-users only need a web browser and do not have to procure, install or maintain software or hardware and pay flexibly for the services they want to consume. Grid computing helped solve large problems with parallelization and use of a distributed network of IT resources. Utility computing offered IT resources as a metered service. Software-as-a-service extended this to offer network-based subscriptions to software applications. Cloud computing is an evolution of computing that offers anytime, anywhere access to IT infrastructure and business processes and applications delivered dynamically as services. The globalization of economies and businesses, the billions of mobile devices accessing the Internet, the real-time data streams and information sharing, and the rise of social networking and computing are all propelling a combinatorial innovation in cloud services. Yet the economic and technical fundamentals of cloud services remain to be explored. What are the business models for cloud services? What application architectures are suitable? What new composition capabilities are required? How do we ensure isolation of data? What new security and trust models are needed? What service management capabilities will be required to manage scalable resources and varying demand? What workloads are suitable for clouds? This workshop on cloud services aims to bring researchers and industry practitioners together to exchange experience, insights and state-of-the-art research in addressing the aforementioned challenges. The workshop will lay the foundation for science, engineering and business aspects of cloud services. Web Services and SOA are foundational elements of cloud services and this workshop will include their exploitation in cloud services. Topics of interest in the workshop include but not limited to: - Knowledge-intensive services across industry sectors such as health, energy, environment, e-government, intelligent infrastructure etc - Business models and economics of cloud services - People clouds to leverage the wisdom of crowds - Governance, security and trust models in clouds - Business Support Systems & Operation Support Systems - Smart configuration and customization of services - Integrated service management - Multi-tenancy enablement, management and optimization - Automated service provisioning - Virtual appliances and their lifecycle management - Migration and recovery - Service development tools & methods - Service analytics Paper Submission Authors are invited to submit papers of not more than 8 pages of double column text using single spaced 10 point size on 8.5 x 11 inch pages, as per IEEE 8.5 x 11 manuscript guidelines paper template in word format here. Authors should submit a Word or PDF files using online submission and review system. The accepted papers will be published in the proceedings of the SERVICES 2009 by the IEEE Computer Society Press and will be made available online through the IEEE Digital Library.
