Call For Papers

JCKBSE'10
9th JOINT CONFERENCE ON KNOWLEDGE-BASED SOFTWARE ENGINEERING
AUGUST 25-27, 2010, KAUNAS, LITHUANIA
http://www.mii.lt/jckbse10

AIMS AND SCOPE

The main objective of the JCKBSE series of biannual conferences is to bring together researchers and practitioners to share ideas on the foundations, techniques, tools, and applications of knowledge-based software engineering theory and practice. The 9th Conference continues the JCKBSE conferences held in Pereslavl-Zalesskii (1994), Sozopol (1996), Smolenice (1998), Brno (2000), Maribor (2002), Bratislava (2002), Protvino (2004), Tallinn (2006), and Piraeus (2008). The conference will consist of regular sessions with technical contributions reviewed and selected by an international program committee, as well as of invited talks and tutorials presented by leading scientists. The official language of the conference will be English.

TOPICS

Original papers dealing with both theory and/or practice of knowledge-based software engineering are solicited. We invite contributions that address theoretical foundations, practical techniques, software tools, applications and/or experience reports The areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Knowledge technologies for semantic web
* Ontology engineering;
* Ontologies and patterns in UML modelling
* Knowledge technologies for service-oriented systems, Internet of services and Internet of things
* Architecture of knowledge-based systems, including intelligent agents and softbots
* Knowledge-based requirements engineering, domain analysis and modelling
* Knowledge engineering for process management and project management
* Intelligent user interfaces and human-machine interaction
* Methodology and tools for knowledge discovery and data mining
* Automating software design and synthesis
* Automating composition of components and services, methods to predict the properties of composites
* Knowledge-based methods and tools for testing, verification and validation, maintenance and evolution
* Decision support methods for software engineering
* Knowledge management for business processes, workflows and enterprise modelling
* Program understanding, programming knowledge, modelling programs and programmers
* Knowledge-based methods and tools for software engineering education
* Knowledge-based methods for software metrics

SUBMISSION

Contributions are solicited for the following categories:
-- full research papers describing research accomplishments (approximately 5000 words),
-- demonstrations and short communications, i.e. experience reports, project overviews, etc. which do not fully adhere to the standards of a first rate scientific publication, but are nevertheless of interest and value for the participants of the conference,
-- proposals for tutorials and panels.

The program committee may decide to accept a submission as a short paper (2000 - 3000 words) if it reports interesting results but does not justify publication of a full paper. Research papers will be published in the conference proceedings, under an ISBN reference, in paper and in CD-ROM support. A selection of outstanding papers from the conference may be invited for publication in an internationally recognized journal (subject to additional reviewing). All contributions should be in PDF format and should be submitted electronically via the EasyChair Conference System (http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=jckbse10). For their submissions, authors are encouraged to consider the final paper format requirements, as specified at the conference site.

Research papers should be original contributions and should not be accepted or submitted elsewhere until the decisions of the JCKBSE 2010 program committee are announced. At least one author from every submission accepted to be published is obliged to register and attend the conference.

CONFERENCE VENUE

The Conference is organized by Kaunas University of Technology in cooperation with the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics (Vilnius). It will take place in the central part of Kaunas, the second largest city of Lithuania. Kaunas is located at the confluence of the Nemunas and Neris rivers, about 100 km (85.3 miles) from Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. It is a very romantic city that was founded in 1030 and first officially mentioned in written sources in 1361. The Old Town of Kaunas is an assembly of remarkable ancient architectural monuments: the remnants of the 14th century Castle, the Cathedral, the Jesuit and Holy Trinity Churches as well as the Town Hall, nicknamed the "White Swan" for its charming architecture. The most important architectural accent is the Town Hall Square, with the early Gothic Vytautas Church and the late Gothic Perkunas House. The quite unique Velniu Muziejus (Devils? Museum) contains three floors, and a stunning array of devils in all shapes, sizes, colours and materials and hailing from all corners of the globe, is spread over them. In the M. K. Ciurlionis Art Museum you can admire the paintings of Lithuania?s all-time greatest composer and painter Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis, inspired by music, mysticism and Lithuanian folklore. In the Mykolas Zilinskas Art Gallery you can enjoy 17th-20th century European works of applied art, 16th-19th-century Italian, Dutch, Flemish, and German painting, late 19th-20th century Western European art, early 20th century painting and sculpture from the Baltic States, ancient Egyptian art, porcelain and old tapestries.
