NICSO 2011 V International Workshop on Nature Inspired Cooperative Strategies for Optimization October 20-22, Cluj-Napoca, Romania www.nicso2011.org DEADLINE EXTENSION: MAY 2, 2011! *********************************************************** CALL FOR PAPERS NICSO 2011 is the fifth edition of the International Workshop on Nature Inspired Cooperative Strategies for Optimization and aims at promoting deeper investigations on cooperative problem solving strategies and bringing together international researchers and practitioners from different disciplines to exchange ideas about emerging new research areas. Biological and other natural processes have always been a source of inspiration for computer science and information technology. We seek contributions that are inspired by Nature and that encompass a range of spatio-temporal scales, for visionary conceptions of information processing and computation as pertaining to cooperation mechanisms in the context of problem solving. Submitted papers will undergo a rigorous blind peer review process. Selection criteria will be based on relevance, originality, significance, impact, technical soundness and quality of the presentation. Contributions are expected to provide original results, insights and experimental innovations. Manuscripts must be in PDF, not exceeding 12 pages and conforming to the Latex template at the Springer's Instructions for Authors page. Contributions are welcome to submission through the system available at http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=nicso2011. As in previous editions, the accepted papers will be published in the book series on STUDIES IN COMPUTATIONAL INTELLIGENCE (Springer) indexed by ISI Web of Science, DBLP, Ulrichs, SCOPUS, MathSciNet, Current Mathematical Publications, Mathematical Reviews, Zentralblatt Math: MetaPress and Springerlink. Authors of a selection of the best papers published in the book will be invited to submit an extended and improved version of the work to a special issue of the JOURNAL OF MEMETIC COMPUTING (Springer) (http://www.springerlink.com/content/g41239886q5j/). At NICSO 2011 a BEST PAPER competition will also take place! Topics of interest are (but not limited to): Adaptive Behaviour Ant Colonies Amorphous Computing Artificial Life Artificial Immune Systems Bioinformatics Bio-inspired Architectures Complex Systems Distributed Computing Evolutionary Robotics Evolvable Systems Games and Game Theory Evolutionary Algorithms Genetic Programming Hyperheuristics Membrane Computing Memetic Algorithms Quantum Computing Software Self Assembly Systems Coevolution Swarm Intelligence IMPORTANT DATES EXTENDED Deadline for Submission: MAY, 2!
