The editors invite scholarly articles on Mobile and Ubiquitous Learning Environments (MULE) supported by wireless, mobile, pervasive and ubiquitous technologies, such as PDA, mobile/smart phone, tablet PC, iPod, RFID tags, GPS, sensors, augmented reality, etc, to be considered for a special issue of the IEEE Multidisciplinary Engineering Education Magazine (MEEM), which is the official publication of the IEEE Education Society Student Activities Committee (ISSN 1558-7908) whose primary objective is to facilitate the publication of interesting, useful, and informative material on all aspects of multidisciplinary engineering education for the benefit of students and young educators. It is free for authors to publish their works.

We are inviting students or young researchers/educators to submit articles relevant to the following topics, but not limit to, in this special issue:

• Innovative architectures for ubiquitous learning systems
• Context-Aware support for MULE (architectures, examples, techniques ...)
• Instructional design approaches for MULE
• Design of (virtual/real-world) learning objects meta-data in MULE
• Extending awareness, contextualization and collaboration in MULE
• Intelligent support for MULE (user modeling, profiling ...)
• Inclusive and assistive mobile learning
• Content management and delivery for learning on mobile devices
• Collaborative and social mobile learning
• Blended learning with mobile and fixed technologies
• Mobile social media & user generated content
• Specific learning-theoretical foundations of MULE
• Educational applications using mobile and ubiquitous technologies in specific locations or for bridging learning experiences between locations such as classrooms, museums, libraries, ...

The MEEM publishes three types of articles:

• Regular papers (5 or more pages)
• Short papers (around 3 pages)
• Letters (free size, with a mininum of one page)

Timeline
• Submission of manuscripts - June 30, 2011
