Call for papers The aim of BASNA 2012 is to encourage multidisciplinary discussions related to novel ideas and applications geared towards analyzing social network data for business use. By bringing together researchers in the fields of SNA, data mining, and management studies, the workshop will focus on identifying areas of collaboration among their respective disciplines: The role of data mining techniques in identifying scalable methods for the extraction and organization of social relations for management research and business practice The role of management research in guiding data mining efforts and SNA metrics development towards theoretically-grounded discoveries about social network emergence. The role of Social Network Analysis in developing and applying metrics and tools for the mapping, evaluation, visualization, and design of social relations in organizations. Selected authors will be invited to submit an extended version of their paper, with a fast reviewing process, to the Journal of Information Science and Technology , to the International Journal of Knowledge-Based Organizations, and to the International Journal of Social Network Mining The workshop’s topics of interest include (but are not limited to the following):Topics of Interest: Algorithms for data mining social networks, graphs, links Applications of social network data mining to address a real world business scenario Anomaly detection in network based applications like intrusion detection in telecommunication Application of scale-free networks Mobile social networks Application of network data mining to discover consumer, organization, and interorganizational structures Data mining applications for business blogging and micro-blogging (real time mining) Community discovery in social networks Data mining on large graphs Data mining applications for viral marketing Behavioral analysis in social networks Social semantic web Privacy issues in social networks Recommendation systems based on social network analysis Social Network Analysis (SNA) based: Knowledge Management (identifying experts, fostering knowledge exchange and integration, creating and developing communities of practice) Marketing (identifying new and key customers, customer relationship management) Innovation Support (enhancing innovation capacity, supporting new product development teams) Change Management (managing change, post-merger integration, identifying key enablers) Talent Management (hiring and career development) Leadership Development (decision-making, identifying leaders) Intra-Organizational Coordination (supporting coordination and information flows among organizational members and units) Inter-Organizational Coordination (supporting collaboration in consortia, industrial districts, inter-organizational alliances) Papers reporting original and unpublished research results pertaining to the above topics are solicited. New full paper submission deadline is May 7, 2012. These papers will follow an academic review process. Full paper manuscripts must be in English with a maximum length of 8 pages (using the IEEE two-column template). Submissions should include the title, author(s), affiliation(s), e-mail address(es), tel/fax numbers, abstract, and postal address(es) on the first page. Papers should be submitted to the BASNA Workshop Submission System. If Web submission is not possible, manuscripts should be sent as an attachment via email to basna.workshop@gmail.com by April 15, 2012. The attachment must be in PDF or Word .doc format. It is important to note that IEEE CPS will publish the proceedings of ASONAM 2012 and hence all the rules and regulations of IEEE CPS will be applied as explained in the following link: http://www.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/policies Papers will be selected based on their originality, timeliness, significance, relevance, and clarity of presentation. Authors should certify that their papers represent substantially new previously unpublished work. Paper submission implies that the intent is for one of the authors to present the paper if accepted and that at least one of the authors register to ASONAM 2012.
