Call For Papers | |||||||||||||
Running video applications over wireless networks is technically demanding due to constraints and heterogeneities such as battery power limitations, bandwidth restrictions, channel noise and interference, and a variety of protocols and standards. Developing solutions requires wide experience and knowledge involving channel models, modulation, codec structures and features, and implementation details of the ever-expanding wireless technology menagerie. The aim of this Special Issue is to provide the communications engineer with an insight into current research in this rich and expanding field. Topics of primary interest include but are not limited to:
• Video coding for wireless networks • Video communication over wireless networks (3G, 4G, PAN, BAN, MANET, WLAN, wireless broadband, ultra-wideband) • Video wireless sensor networks • Video delivery to energy-constrained devices • Exploitation of communication features of state-of-the-art codecs • Support for mobile TV — IEEE 802.16e, DVB-H • Video multi-description coding and path diversity, including MIMO • Cross-layer approaches • Source Channel coding • Video over ad-hoc networks • Computational intelligence algorithms for wireless communication Schedule: Paper Submission Deadline: March 1, 2009 1st Notification of acceptance: May 31, 2009 Submission due date of revised paper: July 15, 2009 2nd Notification of acceptance: September 30, 2009 Submission of final revised paper: October 31, 2009 Publication date: 1st or 2nd Quarter, 2010 (Tentative) Guest Editors: Prof. Mohammed Ghanbari (Corresponding Editor) School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering University of Essex, United Kingdom E-mail: ghan@essex.ac.uk Dr. Martin Fleury School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering University of Essex United Kingdom E-mail: fleum@essex.ac.uk Series Editor: Professor Habib F.
