Call For Papers

«THE LORDS OF THE ALPS» FAMILIES AND POWERS AMONG THE EUROPEAN MOUNTAINS.

2013 I.S.T.A. conference theme is «The Lords of the Alps» Families and powers among the European mountains. The aim of the conference is to illustrate, in a comparative perspective, the profiles of some noble and important families hailing from the Alps, examining both their local and outside of their valley importance.
Each participant in the conference will examine a single family through an historical analysis (reference period: Middle Ages and Early Modern Age), politics (political parties, conflicts, antagonisms, privileges, titles, honors), the relations with the institutions (states, cities, communities), famous figures, any popular legends related to the family and to the collective imagination, mansions, fortresses, estates and important geographic places.
Admittance to the conference is free. Students, researchers and those interested to the theme can produce a written contribution that will be included in the publication of the Conference proceedings in 2014.

The abstract must not exceed 3.000 characters (including spaces) and images could be also included only if they don’t exceed a single A4 sheet size.
Each paper should be focused on a specific family and in relation to the main topic of the conference.

The proposals will be subsequently considered by I.S.T.A. and the selected ones will be announced to the authors by e-mail. The selected authors will be contacted in order to draft a paper which will be included in the publication of the Conference proceedings.
