2nd International ACM/GI Workshop on Digital Engineering http://vierfores1.cs.uni-magdeburg.de/iwde-2011 2011 in Magdeburg, Germany Scope: Software-intensive systems are becoming more and more important in an increasing number of traditional engineering domains. Digital Engineering is a new emerging trend which meets the challenge to bring together traditional engineering and modern approaches in Software- and Systems Engineering. Engineers in the traditional domains will be confronted with both the usage of software systems in a growing amount and also with the development of software-intensive systems. Therefore, Software- and Systems- Engineering play a growing role in many engineering domains. Workshop: The Second International Workshop on Digital Engineering (IWDE) at the Center for Digital Engineering will be held in Magdeburg, Germany. The workshop focuses on new methods and applications in the domain of Digital-, Software- and Systems-Engineering. Scientific contributions to the domain of development and management using digital technologies are welcome as well as evaluations of current trends in research. An explicit goal is to foster a future research agenda and to establish cooperation of the workshop participants in joint activities like research projects and publications. Workshop Topics: The specific topics of the conference include, but are not limited to: * Systems- and Software Engineering Approaches to Digital Engineering * Architectures and Implementations of Real-Time Simulation * Model-Driven Approaches to Digital Engineering * Interoperability of embedded devices and VR systems * High performance computing in embedded systems * Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality for Digital Engineering * Interaction of VR / AR and Simulation Models * VR-Simulation for Safety and Security Engineering * Model generation for visualization Quality and requirements * Data Models and Process Modeling for Virtual Engineering * Computer-aided control for complex machinery * Compliance in Eternal Systems * Privacy and Trustworthiness of Grid Computing * Security Aspects of Service-oriented Architectures and Middlewares * Secure and Trustworthy Man-Machine Interaction * Secured RFID Sensor Network Technologies In particular, we expect the following results from the workshop: * Accepted papers and a summary of the discussions will be published in the workshop's proceedings by ACM Digital Library. * A research agenda based on the participants' research interests will be established that guides further activities such as joint projects and publications. Submission guidelines: We invite submissions of (max 8 pages) in ACM Proceedings Format. All papers must represent original and unpublished work that is not currently under review elsewhere. All papers will be reviewed by at least three members of the program committee and the organization committee. The authors will be notified about acceptance before the early registration deadline. Important Dates: Paper Submission: 15th August, 2011 Notification: 19th September, 2011 Final Submission: 10th October, 2011 Workshop: 21st-22nd November, 2011 Submission and Registration are carried out at the IWDE web site http://vierfores1.cs.uni-magdeburg.de/iwde-2011/ Submitted manuscripts shall be in English.
