Biometrics School 2016 (Asia/Winter edition)
1st - 4th August 2016
Venue: Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Shah Alam, Malaysia

2D/3D Face Recognition Tutorial & Workshop

Dear colleagues,

It is a great pleasure to announce the Asian Biometrics School 2016 will be held on 1st - 4th August 2016 at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Shah Alam, Malaysia. This year's theme is 2D/3D face recognition. From securing your smartphone and automatic photo tagging to enabling automatic border control and identifying criminals in forensics, the technology has far-reaching implications in our society.

The School provides a tutorial-style forum discussion with hands-on exercises to understand and use the latest biometrics techniques with application to 2D/3D face recognition. In addition, some fundamental Machine Learning concepts will also be covered, such as feature learning, metric learning, Bayesian classifier based on Gaussian Mixture Model, and deep neural networks..

Our speakers are:
Jiwen Lu, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China (Metric Learning & Feature Learning for 2D Face Recognition)
Paul Koppen, University of Surrey, UK (3D Facial Analysis & Recognition)
Norman Poh, University of Surrey, UK (Biometrics Evaluation and Facial Anti-spoofing)
Manuel Gunther, University of Colorado, Colorado Spring, USA (Parts-based and Open-Source Face Recognition)

This intensive four-day programme will cater for the diverse background of the following targeted participants: engineers, graduate and post-graduate students, academicians, and technologists as well as new-comers to the field.

Tentative schedule and topics can be found here: http://www.biometricschool.org/schedule.
