Special Issue on
Data and Security Issues in Web Services CALL FOR PAPERS As an architectural style for building software applications using service components available in a network, Services-oriented architecture (SOA) has made a major impact on distributed computing research. SOA is usually realized through Web services, which is defined as the self-contained, self-describing, modular application that provides business functionality across the Web. The recent growing requirement on data and security issues from business and society, calls for more effective methodologies and tools for Web services: from the perspective of service construction, in order to construct an intelligent service which can effectively perceive the individual behavior, identify and satisfy the individual requirements, Web service should be highly dependent on data acquisition and data processing. From the perspective of service utilization, the associated service resources change dynamically as they are being used, and this could result in abnormal service status which may further affect the service quality and system security. In this special issue, we solicit original work in all areas of Web services. In particular, we seek original work on identifying new research and development challenges and developing new techniques and algorithms in data processing and security in Web services. Specific topics include, but not limited to, the following: · Access control and authentication · Computer forensics · Information assurance · Network recovery · Security Systems & Services · Web-based service monitoring and management · Network security management · Network survivability · Malicious software · Privacy-preserving secure protocols · Semantic Web services · Networking aspects of Web and cloud computing · Secure communication · Secure network protocols · Context-Aware interactions · Content and service delivery · Wireless Web security · Web service-based architectures and applications Important Dates Submission of manuscript: October 1, 2011 Notification of acceptance: December 15, 2011 Final submission due: February 1, 2012 Tentative publication date: 2nd Quarter, 2012 Submission Prospective authors should submit high quality and original contributions that have not appeared, nor are under consideration, in any other journals. Submissions should follow the guidelines of Journal of Networks, which can be found at: http://www.academypublisher.com/jnw/forauthors.html Manuscripts should be prepared in the Academy Publisher Journal Style, and be submitted electronically to the EasyChair link created for this special issue: https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=dswssi2011 For further questions or inquiries, please contact the corresponding Guest Editors: Dr. Gang Li at gang.li@deakin.edu.au or Dr. Wenjia Niu at niuwj@hpnl.ac.cn.
