Call For Papers

The 2012 IEEE International Workshop on Genomic Signal Processing and Statistics (GENSIPS’12) will be held in Washington, DC during December 2-4, 2012. GENSIPS’12 will provide a forum for signal processing researchers, bioinformaticians, computational biologists, biomedical engineers, and biostatisticians to exchange ideas and discuss the challenges confronting computational bioinformatics and systems biology communities due to the high modality of disparate high-throughput data, high variability of data acquisition, high dimensionality of biomedical data, and high complexity of genomics and proteomics. The theme of GENSIPS’12 is Methods in Next-Generation Sequencing and Cancer Systems Biology and GENSIPS will feature prominent plenary speakers including John Quackenbush of Harvard University, Victor Velculescu of Johns Hopkins University, Eberhard Voit of Georgia Tech, Jinghui Zhang of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, as well as special sessions in cancer research. GENSIPS’12 will also provide best paper awards to students with outstanding technical contributions.

The conference will be held at Westin Arlington Gateway Hotel, located just blocks from Metro, Interstate 66, and many shops and restaurants in the vibrant Ballston area of Arlington, Northern Virginia. It is also within walking distance of major federal agencies including the National Science Foundation (NSF), Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and Office of Naval Research (ONR). Meeting location is conveniently central to businesses and attractions throughout Washington DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. Washington DC is home to the National Mall, US Capitol, Smithsonian Museums, and White House, boasting an eclectic mix of restaurants, shopping and entertainment options.

Possible topical areas of interest include, but are not limited to the following:
• Computational methods for cancer biomarker discovery
• Cancer drug screening and effectiveness prediction
• Data analysis methods for NGS/SNP/genotype/epigenetic data
• Data integration and TCGA data processing
• Deep sequencing data analysis
• Dynamics and control of genetic regulatory networks
• Differential analysis of molecular regulatory networks
• Functional meta-genomics and biomolecular dynamics in microbial communities
• Functions of microRNA and non-coding RNAs
• LC/MS data analysis and proteomics
• Modeling of cancer evolution and intra-tumoral heterogeneity
• Modeling of genetics networks and signaling pathways
• System level prognosis and diagnosis

Paper Submission: Prospective authors are invited to submit unpublished work to GENSISP’12. All papers will be included in IEEE Xplore and indexed by EI. Authors of paper with exceptional quality could be invited to submit the extended version to special issue in journals. The full papers should adhere to the standard 8.5" X 11" IEEE format and must not exceed 4 pages.
