It aims to attract contributions from both classical automata theory and applications. * Venue: CIAA 2018 will take place at the University of Prince Edward Island, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island Canada. The campus is located on trans-Canada Highway 6.2 Km from the Charlottetown airport and 3Km from the Confederation House, the birthplace of Canada (https://www.tourismpei.com/pei-arts-culture-heritage/birthplace-of-canada). * Topics: Topics of interest include, but not limited to: algorithms on automata, automata and logic, bioinformatics, complexity of automata operations, compilers, computer-aided verification, concurrency, data structure design for automata, data and image compression, design and architecture of automata software, digital libraries, DNA/molecular/membrane computing, document engineering, editors, environments, experimental studies and practical experience, implementation of verification methods and model checking, industrial applications, natural language and speech processing, networking, new algorithms for manipulating automata, object-oriented modeling, pattern-matching, pushdown automata and context-free grammars, quantum computing, structured and semi-structured documents, symbolic manipulation environments for automata, transducers and multi-tape automata, techniques for graphical display of automata, VLSI, viruses and related phenomena, and the world-wide web. * Programs: The scientific program will consist of invited lectures and presentations of papers selected by the international program committee, based on a thorough peer-reviewing process. A Best Paper Awards (named after one of the conference founders, the late Sheng Yu) will be announced and presented during the conference. * Invited speakers: Anne Condon (University of British Columbia, Vancouver/British Columbia, Canada) Stavros Konstantinidis (St. Mary's University, Halifax, Canada) Andreas Malcher (Justus-Liebig Universität Gießen, Gießen, Germany) Jacques Sakarovitch (Université Paris Diderot, Paris, France) * Program Committee: Francine Blanchet-Sadri (University of North Carolina, USA) Cezar Câmpeanu (University of Prince Edward Island, Canada, Chair) Arnaud Carayol (Université Paris-Est, France) (co-chair) Jean-Marc Champarnaud (Université de Rouen, France) Salimur Choudhury (Lakehead University, Canada) Jan Daciuk (Gdańsk University of Technology, Poland) Dora Giammarresi (University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy) Yo-Sub Han (Yonsei University, Seoul, South Korea) Markus Holzer (Justus-Liebig-Universität, Giessen, Germany) Oscar Ibarra (University of California, Santa Barbara, USA) Galina Jirásková (Slovak Academy of Sciences, Slovak Republic) Juhani Karhumäki (University of Turku, Finland) Sylvain Lombardy (Bordeaux Institute of Technology, France) Carlo Mereghetti (University of Milano, Italy) František Mráz (Univerzita Karlova, Czech Republic) Cyril Nicaud (Université Paris-Est, France) Alexander Okhotin (University of St Petersburg, Russian Federation) Giovanni Pighizzini (University of Milano, Italy) Daniel Reidenbach (Loughborough University, United Kingdom) Rogério Reis (University of Porto, Portugal) Kai T.
