BACKGROUND
The Nordic Workshop on Model Driven Software Engineering brings together industry practitioners and academic researchers to share experiences and latest research on model driven software engineering and development. The workshop is a forum to present experiences and ongoing research in software engineering and model-driven engineering in particular, but also functions as an event for establishing co-operative research projects between the participants and working on joint research papers. The workshop provides an open forum, reserving ample time for discussions. The workshop has 7 editions of past history. Prior instances were held in Reykjavik (Island), Ronneby (Sweden), Grimstad (Norway), Tampere (Finland), and Turku (Finland).
Model driven software development approaches (MDE, MDA, MDD) have matured and grown out from an academic research community to gain wider industrial adoption. They are now perceived as one of the mainstream technologies to improve the productivity of software teams and the quality of products. Model-driven engineering can bring important benefits to software architectures; however there are still challenges to be addressed in order to realize a successful integration. This year, the NW-MoDE workshop focuses on the relations between model-driven paradigm and the software architecture field. This topic is also sustained by the existing overlap between the software architecture community and the model-driven one, as seen by the publications of the MODELS, ECSA, and formerly WICSA conferences. Thus, we encourage submissions from software architecture community discussing the viability, advantages, and weaknesses of model-driven architecture. We encourage in particular submissions presenting industrial experiences on integrating software architecture and model-driven engineering.

TOPICS OF INTEREST INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
• Model-driven development and software architecture
• Experiences and applications: empirical work on modeling and model driven engineering, and experiences in working with models in industry;
• Model driven development: model based software and system engineering, analysis of models, model transformations, approaches supporting reuse, and tool support for modeling;
• Models in Web Services engineering;
• Modeling languages: domain specific languages and profiles, standardization activities, language design and engineering, and tool support;
• Modeling processes: processes for model driven engineering, and modeling of engineering processes;
• Model processing operations: version management of models, model integration, model differencing, and model synthesis;
• Quality of models and modeling: measuring quality of models, and modeling processes;
• Model-based/driven testing, validation and verification, and
• Other topics: model integration, code generation from models, reverse engineering into models, and evolution of models.

PAPER SUBMISSION
The following types of submission are accepted:
• Short papers (4 pages) - describing work in progress or industrial experiences,
• Long papers (8 pages) - reporting substantial, completed, and previously unpublished research.

Submissions should be written in English and should contain original contributions not published elsewhere. Workshop proceedings will be published in the ACM Digital Library (pending). The format of the submission should follow ACM Formatting Guidelines (http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates). The submission should be done in PDF-format via EasyChair (http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=nwmode2010) before May 17, 2010.

The submitted papers will be reviewed by at least two members of the programme committee. All submitted papers will be reviewed by members of the programme committee. Accepted papers must be presented at the workshop by one of the authors. At least one author of each paper should register for the workshop.

Very high quality papers from the workshop may be invited for being published in a special issue of the Software and Systems Modeling (SoSyM) Journal or of the Nordic Journal of Computing (NJC).

SPECIAL SESSIONS
The workshop will also include special sessions. Suggestions for special sessions are welcomed from persons which intend to participate in the workshop and which are interested in mediating the sessions as well as in exchanging information on the topic. The suggestion should include the topic, short description of the planned discussion, target participants, format, and duration (short 90 minutes, long 180 minutes). Suggestions should be sent by email to nw-mode2010@abo.fi.
