The 2012 20th International Symposium on Methodologies for Intelligent Systems (ISMIS 2012)
December 4-7, 2012, Macau SAR, China Conference Website: http://www.fst.umac.mo/wic2012/ISMIS/ Important Dates: Workshop proposal submission: April 10, 2012 Electronic submission of full papers: June 1, 2012 Workshop paper submission: July 25, 2012 Notification of paper acceptance: August 1, 2012 Camera-ready of accepted papers: August 31, 2012 Workshops: December 4, 2012 Conference: December 5-7, 2012 #################################################################### Conference Theme The scope of ISMIS is intended to represent a wide range of topics on applying Artificial Intelligence techniques to areas as diverse as decision support, automated deduction, reasoning, knowledge based systems, machine learning, computer vision, robotics, planning, databases, information retrieval, etc. The focus is on research in intelligent systems. The conference addresses issues involving solutions to problems that are complex to be solved through conventional approaches and that require the simulation of intelligent thought processes, heuristics and applications of knowledge. The integration of these multiple approaches in solving complex problems is of particular importance. ISMIS provides a forum and a means for exchanging information for those interested purely in theory, those interested primarily in implementation, and those interested in specific research and industrial applications. Topics of Interest ISMIS'12 is intended to attract individuals who are actively engaged both in theoretical and practical aspects of intelligent systems. The goal is to provide a platform for a useful exchange between theoreticians and practitioners, and to foster the cross-fertilization of ideas in the following areas (but are not limited to): 1)Active Media Human-Computer Interaction 2)Autonomic and Evolutionary Computation 3)Digital Libraries 4)Intelligent Agent Technology 5)Intelligent Information Retrieval 6)Intelligent Information Systems 7)Intelligent Language Processing 8)Knowledge Representation and Integration 9)Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining 10)Knowledge Visualization 11)Logic for Artificial Intelligence 12)Music Information Retrieval 13)Soft Computing 14)Text Mining 15)Web Intelligence 16)Web Mining 17)Web Services 18)Social Computing 19)Recommender Systems In addition, we include four special sessions (http://www.fst.umac.mo/wic2012/ISMIS/?category=participants&node=3) and one industry session Special Session 1: Technology Intelligence and Applications Special Session Special Session 2: Product Configuration Special Session Special Session 3: Human Factors in Information Retrieval Special Session Special Session 4: Social Recommender Systems Industry Session on Human Social Intelligence in the Industry (HIS@ISMIS2012) (http://www.fst.umac.mo/wic2012/ISMIS/?category=participants&node=4) Paper Submission and Publications Authors are invited to submit their manuscript in LNCS/LNAI style (maximum 10 pages). All paper submissions will be handled electronically. Detailed instructions will be provided on the conference homepage. All submissions will be subject to review by the ISMIS'12 program committee. The ISMIS'12 proceedings will be published by Springer-Verlag in LNAI (Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence) and will be available at the conference. Any necessary information concerning typesetting can be obtained directly from Springer at Springer-Verlag page. *** Contact Information *** General Chair Zbigniew W.
