Call For Papers

In conjunction with 17th International Conference on Science and Technology Indicators (STI) , the VP Institute is sponsoring the 2nd Global TechMining Conference. “Tech-mining” tools include bibliometric and text-mining software (e.g., VantagePoint, TDA) as well as other analytical & visualization applications. Themes include, but are not limited to:
- Data: Sourcing, preparing, and interpreting data sources including patents, publications, web data extraction, and other novel data sources
- Text-mining tools and methods
- Best practices in software-based topic modeling, clumping, association rules, term manipulation, text manipulation, etc.
- Visualization
- Applied research: Future-Oriented Technology Analysis (FTA), Intelligence gathering for private-sector decision-making (e.g., MoT) Suggested topics include case studies/research results, development of new methods, and development of enhanced software tools (e.g., macros).

The working language of the conference will be English. The conference organizing committee invites submissions of:
1) Abstracts for oral presentations. Abstracts for oral presentations should address well-developed research. Presenters will have access to projection technology.
2) Abstracts for roundtable presentations. Roundtables are intended for works in progress. Presenters will not have access to projection technology.
3) Abstracts for posters. Abstracts are especially invited from undergraduate or graduate students; researchers within three years of receipt of a doctoral degree; and others who prefer this visual mode. Presenters should be available for questions and discussion.

Proposals for oral and roundtable presentations should be submitted by APRIL 1, 2012, through the link on www.gtmconference.org. The deadline for poster submissions is JULY 1, 2012. Participants to the GTM conference are strongly encouraged to also attend the 17th International Conference on Science and Technology Indicators (STI) at the same location September 5-8. 2012.
