Call For Participation VIEW 2012: IEEE Vision Industry & Entrepreneur Workshop Once largely an academic discipline, computer vision today is also a commercial force. Startups and global corporations are building businesses based on computer vision technology. These businesses provide computer vision based solutions for the needs of consumers, enterprises in many commercial sectors, non-profits, and governments. The demand for computer vision based solutions is also driving commercial and open-source development in associated areas, including hardware and software platforms for embedded and cloud deployments, new camera designs, new sensing technologies, and compelling applications. We are introducing the IEEE Vision Industry and Entrepreneur Workshop (VIEW) at the IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) this year to bridge the academic and commercial worlds of computer vision. The goals of VIEW are: - to educate computer vision researchers on startups and commercialization - to provide a meeting place for researchers, technologists, businesses, investors, and users. The program will include talks and panels featuring speakers from startups, major corporations, and the investment community. The program will also include a poster session for startups, industry computer vision teams, and others to introduce themselves. Benefits of participating in VIEW 2012 include both learning and networking. Call for Posters Applications to present a poster at VIEW 2012 are solicited from startups, industry teams, non-profits, venture capitalists, and other groups whose activity is based on computer vision technology or is supportive of computer vision technology. The poster session will be different from a typical CVPR workshop poster session: its principal aim is to enable organizations to present themselves for networking, recruiting, publicity, and feedback. Poster presenters will also have an opportunity to participate in an oral poster spotlight session. No proceedings are planned. Application submissions should consist of a draft poster in PDF format. Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee for relevance, interest, quality, and balance. Presentation of technology, value proposition, team, and competitive landscape are encouraged, but only non-confidential material may be submitted. Questions?
