International Journal on Software Tools for Technology Transfer (STTT)

Special Section on Risk-Based Testing

Background
***********
In many application domains, testing has to be done under severe pressure due to limited resources and time constraints with the consequence that only a subset of all relevant test cases can be executed. In this context, risk-based testing approaches that make software risks the guiding factor to solve decision problems in all phases of the test process, i.e. test planning, design, execution and reporting, are getting more and more important to improve testing. This special section serves as a platform for researchers and practitioners to present approaches, results, experience and advances in risk-based testing.

Topics
*******
This special section focuses on all topics relevant to risk-based testing. In particular, the topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

- Risk-based test planning, design, prioritization or reporting
- Studies of use of risk-based testing in an industrial environment
- Empirical studies related to risk-based testing approaches
- Literature surveys on the topic of the special section
- Risk-based testing of safety-critical or security-critical systems
- Risk-based approaches to regression testing
- Model-based approaches to risk-based testing
- Use of risk-based testing on different test levels
- Use of risk-based testing in different application domains
- Use of risk analysis results to optimize the test process
- Value-based software testing
- Risk-based testing processes
- Tools for risk-based testing
- Risk assessment for testing purposes
- Residual risk estimation

Submission Information
***********************
The deadline for submissions is September 30, 2013.

Detailed submission information and author guidelines are available at http://sttt.cs.uni-dortmund.de/for-authors.html

All submissions must contain original unpublished work not being considered for publication elsewhere. Original extensions to conference papers are also encouraged unless prohibited by copyright. STTT reserves the rights to include an accepted paper in the special section or transfer an accepted paper as a regular paper of the journal.
