Call For Papers

Being proposed as a method for suppressing disturbances in asymptotically converging motion in the beginning of 1970s, the sliding mode control rapidly became a powerful tool introducing fundamental changes into all aspects of variable structure systems. A short list of developed concepts includes finite-time stability, high-order sliding mode control, homogeneity, integral sliding mode, terminal sliding mode, adaptive sliding mode, sliding mode and variable structure systems in discrete time, sliding mode state observation and identification, sliding mode parameter identification, sliding mode filtering and control for stochastic systems, output feedback sliding mode control, frequency domain methods, optimal sliding mode control, sliding mode fault detection, sliding mode differential games, and many more. Sliding mode techniques have been extensively used to solve application problems for aerospace systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, Stewart platforms, mobile robotics, master-slave configurations, power electronics, electric drives and actuators, wind turbines, communication networks, automotive industry, resource management, and other fields important in practice.

The objective of this special issue is to summarize and classify the results and advances in sliding mode algorithms and variable structure systems, obtained in 2010-2012. The solicited papers should provide new ideas and approaches, clearly indicating the advances made in problem statements, methodologies, or applications with respect to the existing results. The focus of this special issue will be on advanced and non-traditional methods presenting considerable novelties in theoretical background or practical design. The papers presenting newly emerging fields are especially welcome.

This Special Issue is intended to cover all possible topics related to sliding mode algorithms and variables structure systems, making emphasis on recent results obtained in 2010-2012. The papers will be selected based on peer, impartial, and competitive reviewing.
