Introduction/Call for Papers

A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is a collection of tiny devices capable of sensing, computation and wireless communication operating in a certain environment to monitor and control events of interest in a distributed manner and collectively react to critical situations. WSN applications span various domains such as environmental and building monitoring and surveillance, pollution monitoring, agriculture, health care, home-automation, energy management, earthquake and eruption monitoring. Notably, through collaboration WSNs can organize efficiently, prolong system lifetime, handle dynamics, detect and correct errors, all with the final goal of eventually executing reliably the user application. This special session focuses on exploring collaborative techniques to make WSNs more reliable, intelligent, effective and easy-to-use in academic- and industry-related scenarios. Prospective authors are invited to submit original papers to the Special Session in the areas described below.
Indicative Topics/Areas

CWSN aims at providing a forum for discussing recent advances in methods, techniques, and applications for collaborative wireless sensor networks. In particular, the areas of interest are the following (although this list should not be considered as exclusive):

- WSN architectures, protocols, and algorithms;
- Design of sensor nodes, circuits and WSN devices;
- Localization in WSN, including algorithms and techniques for sensor localization and tracking;
- Data management in WSN, including distributed storage, distributed processing, query, manipulation, data fusion, and data mining;
- WSN reliability and security;
- Cooperative signal and information processing in WSN;
- Collaboration between WSN and other systems;
- Collaborative Body Sensor Networks;
- Sensor fusion architectures for WSNs;
- Integration of WSN and cloud computing;
- WSN applications in Health Care, Automotive, Logistics, Energy Management, Manufacturing, etc.

Important Dates

May 16, 2012: Deadline for submission of full-length papers
June 15, 2012: Acceptance/Rejection notification
July 31, 2012: Deadline for final camera-ready papers submission
October 14-17, 2012: Conference takes place

Submission

Please contact the Special Session organizer for arrangement of submission in the first instance. All submissions may well need to be uploaded to SMC12 main conference online submission system.

All submitted papers of Special Sessions have to undergo the same review process (three completed reviews per paper). The technical reviewers for each Special Session paper will be members of the SMC 2012 Program Committee and qualified peer-reviewers to be nominated by the Special Session organizers.
